I bought what I thought was a good micro SD card for my new z30 - A Sandisk Extreme 16GB model. It works fine when used in other BB devices (tried on a friend's Q5 and a Z10) and when plugged in to my PC via an adapter. If files are already present on the device, my Z30 can read them with no problem. If the Z30 writes anything to the card, it gets corrupted. Files already there are no longer accessible from the Z30, or any other device. Formatting the card in the Z30 also fails about half the time.

I have a 2GB Sandisk SD card from an old 9700 which works fine in the Z30.

I can't take the card back, since it works fine in anything other than my Z30. I'm going to try borrowing another 16GB (or higher) micro SD card to hopefully rule out a problem with the Z30 and chalk it up to a weird incompatibility...

    Welcome to the forums!

Remove all files from the SD using the adapter and store them on the PC. Put the SD on the Z30. Settings > Storage > Format SD card.

Then turn Mass storage on and move the stuff back in.

    See if that does it!

Sorry to hear about that. It should be compatible since it is class 10. But, you might as well get a 64GB for the price difference.

Yeah make sure it's a Class 10 SD and Format for the Z30, should have no problems after that

@ diegonei - Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't work though. I actually got it working again by using the Full Erase option in the Storage settings and then formatting the card again. At the moment I can take pictures using the SD card as storage and look at them after in the picture viewer. When the card is not working I can take pictures and see a preview of them but it isn't possible to view the real photo. I'll see how long it lasts.

In case anyone is interested the full specs on the card can be found here:

Best practice to format the card in the device.

The card eventually died again. I returned/exchanged it. New card seems to be fine. Keeping my fingers crossed...
