Just wondering what the "allow connected devices to exchange data with each other" option is for when setting up the hot spot.

Can we exchange files between devices or is it referring to a different type of data. I was thinking about using it with the playbook, not that I really need it cause bridge function works. But it would be great to be able to exchange data at wifi speeds which is like wifi direct which playbook doesn't support.

Sounds like it allows the devices to view each other on the network for things like windows file sharing, DLNA, etc.

That's exactly right. Mobile Hotspot is essentially turning your Z30 into a router, and allowing connections between devices means you can go SMB, FTP, TELNET, or whatever else you want to use.

Quite nice that you get the option too. Just a little security feature

Yep, exactly as the above posters said. Just another level of security in case you're letting others use your hotspot. Depending on the situation, that option is very helpful. Oh, and available on all BB10 devices (thus far).
