Hey guys you wont notice a diffrrence. If anything is visibly jaggedity like an icon its because they made an error resizing it. Which will be cleaned up on the next update.

To be clear, this device's 295ppi is not going to show "jaggedities"

    Cheers.

Just to out it in perspective. The z30 has twice the ppi of the PlayBook on a smaller screen.

That's an answer that makes sense to me. I confirmed your answer just to be sure....

Also, the iPad mini has 163 ppi, and the new iPad has 264 ppi.

Is ppi really an issue? Not for me.

    Netflix on the other hand.....

I think the bigger issue seems to be screen brightness. Fair amount of conflicting news on brightness front. Is Z30 materially lower on brightness than Z10?

That would be a software issue again solved with updates. But I haven't heard that.

I wonder how old all of you that say it's not noticeable are.

I can clearly tell the difference between an S4's screen, a Note 3's, an Xperia Z's, a Z10's, a Z30's, an iPhones's, etc. and I'm not sticking the phones to my face.

    Are you just in denial?

That being said, I don't care and consider high resolution screens on a tiny phone useless, but it's a selling point.

    You have a Z30?

I think if the icons on the screen have noticeable jagged edges, then there's worse in store browsing and apps.
Have you actually seen this with your eyes?

    Dont forget this

"The S-Stripe pixel layout makes text particularly sharp, which is a must when enjoying longer web pages and e-mails on the big screen. BlackBerry's Jeff Gadway chimed in and said that the Z30 performs particularly well in the realm of contrast versus the competition with an NTSC ratio of 101%. With stuff like this, BlackBerry isn't feeling too intimidated by pixel density wars. "

I can see no loss in Z30 resolution over the Z10. In fact it is at least as good to look at and is smoother flowing.

If brightness is indeed a software issue, then I have high hopes that will be fixed as well. I tend to keep everything super bright on my devices.

I'm sorry but this is BS. I'd take 1080p over this "layout" any day.

It's true, a 720p s-stripe AMOLED display does not look sharper than a pentile 1080p one. The resolution difference is too big regardless of the layout.

Remember, many were comparing the z30 screen to the z10 screen. The z10 screen has one of the highest ppi out there so of course some might notice a slight difference.

Just like people will take a Koenigsegg over Prius any day. Problem is, can you keep up with the upkeep cost? 720p at OLED translates to better battery life.

Sometimes, I wonder if people really want the 1080p or just the prestige of having something with bigger number.

Yes, I can see the difference between 720p and 1080p on about 5" screen, it requires me to know where to look (text rendering) and doesn't bother me in the slightest. This is not the leap of 640x480 to 1280x1024 in 17" monitor, the difference is negligible in actual usage. If you spend your time staring at pixel perfection of 1080p's text rendering (which will be made obsolete by 2160p), you probably can't claim that you actually do any work
