The volume keys on my z30 is so lose I can hear it jitter every time I type... just wondering if this is my devices defect or is it happening to everyone and is there anyway I can change it without going through all the trouble of exchanging my phone? now that I had just set it all up nicely...

imo, exchange it,,, you paid good money for it & should get a defect-free device for that money...

I had that problem with my original Z10. I had it replaced due to a another defect and ended up with buttons that were firm and felt proper.

I have the same problem, but I think it is a "normal" thing, as in the Z30 crackberry review they mention it. Is it a way to fix them maybe?

I spilt some ketchup on my phone at the bar the other night, it gummed up the keys pretty well, but I don't suggest that as a suitable fix.

I was thinking that maybe if the Z30 can be disassembled easily, it might be a way to fix them better, did anyone tried? It's a pitty, the phone is high quality made but when you hear and feel these loose volume keys it mades me crazy!! At least on the Z10, the buttons where like on the Playbook, strong integrated in the case.

Same issue for me, I don'l like the rattle when you type on the right side of the screen. We have a blackberry expert centre in Singapore so I'm going to bring it in and see what can be done. I don't think its acceptable.

The keys on mine do the same thing but only when you shake shake the the phone hard do you hear the volume keys moving.

I think they are like that by design.

By design are you kidding me. My wife has an S3 and my son an iPhone, no shake rattle or roll with either of those phones. I hope this can be fixed but if you look at the volume keys they do t look secure, they just hang there and can come loose. And it's clear I'm not the only one with this issue. Like I said I'm going to get some feedback from the BlackBerry expert centre.

Your post is nonsense. Or you have a defective device

It's obviously a defective device because you wouldn't design loose volume keys on purpose.

Sure if it's the volume keys? I know for phones jot just limited to the Z and BlackBerry, the auto focus piece in the camera makes some rattling noise.

Could be a design flaw of the volume keys

smk99, do let us know if they are able to do anything. But from the looks of it, most of the Z30 would have the same issue. Thanks in advance!

Before you take it back, make sure its actually the volume keys that are rattling and not the NFC leads inside the back if the phone.

These rattle a little bit sometimes and this is normal.

However, if your volume keys are at all loose, then return it. THAT is NOT normal.

The buttons are not "loose" on that they work perfectly fine. But they do have the ever slightest play (space) where they can oscillate slightly. It's picky but in a totally quiet room you can here the jiggle. Anyway went to the BlackBerry expert centre and they didn't have another Z 30 to compare line with so they couldn't benchmark my device. I have to go back. They said if it's loose they will replace the keys and its will take a few days.

I'm telling you it's because the back cover will not let the buttons come all the way out. I shaved a bit off my cover, the buttons are perfect now.

I believe that's the NFC contacts your hearing.
