It's getting easier to open the back. I guess I was doing it wrong. The slide your thumb nail left and right certainly helped.

So, is someone going to take the back cover off a Verizon model, and a different model, and see if the Verizon back cover goes on the other model, and wirelessly charges it?

The back cover does not control the charging. It is built into the phone itself, so switching covers would not work.

I was just about to say the same thing. Back cover has nothing on it. What I want to know is how does NFC work on it. There are no prongs to the cover I can see.

Those considering the TYLT Wireless charger. VZW sells it for 69.99. 30 dollars less than I can find it on Amazon. Just an FYI.

It's pretty expensive, but has anyone used this?

Amazon.com: TYLT Vu Wireless Charger for all Qi Phones - Retail Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

I like that it is raised. Would look great at night in bedside mode with the clock. Any idea of any comparability issues or negative aspects? I wish BB would release some information on exactly what to look for in a compatible pad.
I ordered it last night from their web site . It's $69 there Here is a link:

TYLT • VU • Wireless Charger

I just ordered two in black direct from TYLT myself. VZW has them for the same price but didn't have black.

Ugh. Disappointing. Not sure how Verizon pulled off this exclusivity.
If anyone knows where we can get this special battery, feel free to share.

Someone in China knows as they made this battery.

If only someone will offer this up as a DIY albeit void your warranty swap out. I'd take the chance and remove my battery.

For all the people looking for battery swaps and ways to get non Verizon models working with wireless charging:

This may not help anything, but it is something that may be worth pointing out.. I always keep my NFC turned ON because I use it so much. I noticed that when wireless charging is activated, NFC automatically turns off and cannot be used. Maybe they are somehow built into the same area or something? I don't know anything technical about it, but just thought it may be worth mentioning that NFC auto turns off when Qi is activated.

Thoughts? Sorry if I'm throwing something out there that doesn't technically matter or help. Just an idea for now..

What do you mean wheb wireless charging iss turned on? Meaning when wireless charging is in use? Or is there an on off setting in settings?

When the phone is placed on the charging pad, the NFC turns itself off automatically, and then the wireless charging begins. Again, I have no idea if it is already a known thing and I am offering no "News", but this may mean that Qi and NFC are part of the same chip and can't be used together? Just throwing out something I noticed.
