Just ordered a new black Z30 via Amazon. I like Blackberry OS 10 a lot. I missed having a larger display for video, photos and more and hoping this is a good move. I know I'm going to virtual keyboard but I'm ok with either.

Now for the question.. I know the Z30 isn't getting any younger but should this phone be good for the next year and half or two? I'm hoping Blackberry puts out updates for awhile considering I know the Z10 and Q10 are still getting updates.

I bought my Z30 about 30 days ago. Lovin' it, big time. I'm sure you will too. My Rogers 10.3 update went perfectly. No issue. Many didn't, some did. I'm sure there will be some tweaks (updates) to come.
    Enjoy!

You will enjoy you Z30, and it will be fine. I would suggest that you run it with the stock os that is on the device as received. BlackBerry has pulled the 10.3 update as a large amount of folks are having issues with the upgrade breaking things, or "bricking" if the power gets below 15 percent.

Run the device as is, and use it. Learn it. Load your apps (native and android). And then hopefully BlackBerry will work out the issues with the upgrade. Then read the forums here and see what happens when the fix rolls out.

    Enjoy it.

Being a tech guy one thing imo is BlackBerry does a great job at longevity of a phone. Look at the bold and q10 and z30.

I'm not with passport and love it.

Congrats on your purchase. Wise decision, and you shouldn't have any problems using this phone over the next 2 years. It's a very robust and capable device.

Where did you hear about this, and do you have a link to such an announcement?

Look in to its usb abilities. Amazing. Plug In a hub, keyboard n mouse, drives it's amazing. Little hdmi screen and it's an office all to itself. As for it not being a brand new on The market phone, it's very fast, faster than q10 by a lot of say, and very modern.

And don't update to 10.3 until like it's fixed and rerealeased. Some bad I'd dues for sure

I'm now running Z30STA100-2/10.3.1.2243. I've got no problem with the update. That probably because I installed the update as soon as I got my Z30.

So my suggestion is to install the update as soon as you got your Z30 before using it. And finish the OTA download without stopping. If you stop midway do not continue download and re-download from the beginning so as to avoid corrupted download.

Problem occurs usually because of corrupted download or installing OTA update to Z30 already full of apps or data.

BlackBerry and the carriers have pulled the 10.3 update for the z30. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, there's a link to the article at the BlackBerry support site In a bunch of threads here. I've posted it a few times for sure. Many issues. Not good.

I'm not sure what your motivation is for discouraging everyone to get 10.3.1. Sorry to hear about your black screen, however I've seen you go from forum to forum giving your "recommendation"and it seems to be overkill.
Sure there have been issues, I too have the "rotation lock issue", but it's still the best OS update on BB10 with a boat load of new features! It's definitely WORTH getting. I have NO other problems, and am enjoying 10.3.1! Be sure to back up before loading, and don't look back, 10.3.1 is far ahead of 10.2.1.

Congrats!! I bought my Shop BB Z30 (STA 100-5) almost 2 weeks ago and I love it, coming from a Z10. This phone looks & feels top-shelf and runs like a top. The 10.3.1 update went fine for me, with the only exception being calendar notification sounds that didn't play, which I saw mentioned in a recent CB forum thread. It seems like an issue can be fixed in a new update. Otherwise, I had none of the other issues I have seen mentioned by others.

    ~~ Enjoy it! ~~

You'll enjoy the experience for sure, I'm a launch date owner from day one of this beast, it's still smooth today and I'm also a leak loader ,i've never had any issues except screen flicker from day one, that's only noticeable when on a white background. I never found out what the cause was or is I just got use to it ,also coming from physical keyboards my first ever touch was the Z10 but this Z30 is just so smooth. Good luck and enjoy your BEAST. It will last a long time for sure.

Q10 keyboard and screen colour is better than z30 but q10 battery and touch is not good
    Q10 camera better than z30

But the z30 screen and battery is very good.

For games and reading it's better

It depends on each person needs

I was having q10 and moved to z30 like u because I just need new phone

Finally all BlackBerry devices almost same and its nice.

Have had z10 and q5 before I bought a 250$ z30 on ebay (white). Z30 is a luxury phone relative to those others. Beautiful. Considering it doesn't have crappy Android I'd say it competes with any top of the line Samsung.

Like I've said before the z30 is the best "smartphone" out there unless you like useless apps then that's another story I've used both and the q10 is excellent as well but if you want a larger screen you can't go wrong with it
