OK, weak reason to start a new thread but I can't help it, I just treated myself to a new unlocked Z30 on EBay in the UK for 340 UK pounds delivered which I think is a good price for brand new ones.

I can't wait for it to arrive so I can find out how much better it is than my work provided Z10 which I already think is a brilliant phone, apart from the battery life.

Anyone else gone from a Z10 to Z30 want to share their experiences and nay growing pains as they adjust to the Z30?!

Decided to treat myself to a Christmas upgrade lol. Took about 4 days for me to get used to the a bigger phone. But is so fast and smooth, and such a good battery. I don't know about anyone else but this is pretty good for me..

Just ordered an unlocked Z30! Anyone else gone from Z10 to Z30?-img_20131226_130012.png

You will love it. The Z10 is a great phone, but the screen size of the Z30 is an incredible difference. The dark theme through out the phone also gives you a better experience. The sounds is incredible as well. You will love your Z30! I know I love mine!

Z30 is quite simply the best BlackBerry out there. Z10 is a great phone, but the 30 takes it to another level. The people who have gotten this phone pretty much all agree it's the best they've used and that includes iOS and Android as well.

I know I'm going to love it but I'm quite shocked at how poor the availability is in the UK given it just launched here in November!

Of the 4 carriers in the UK, Orange/EE/T-Mobile (all same company now), O2 and 3 no longer sell it, if they ever did, leaving only Vodafone selling it on contract with no unlocked sim free option. And the UK is one of BlackBerry's key markets! That's a bad sign of things to come, even if BlackBerry decides they actually want to sell a phone to consumers the carriers won't bother to stock it!

Part of the reason I want to own the Z30 is that it may well be the last and greatest BlackBerry phone we will ever see, I hope I'm wrong, but just in case!

Looking forward to hooking it up to my BES10 server at work and connecting in to my systems on that big screen and trying out Miracast.

johnnyuk, it actually launched in September but was only available from Selfridges at first. I understand UK buyers have the mindset that you buy phones from phone stores. That is still true in the states as well, although people here (in the states) are getting more comfortable with buying from other places. Do you have the Z30 available on Amazon.co.uk? Anyway, I wish BlackBerry would put all products and models for sale on their online store.
I was forgetting the rip off Selfridges "launch", I don't really think of a phone as launched until the carriers have it to sell to the masses, which was actually sometime in October looking back. It's not long ago though, it's surprising how it's vanished from carrier's lineups already.

That "must be able to walk in to a carrier's shop to buy a phone" mentality is quite strong here in the UK but not something I subscribe to personally. I haven't bought a phone in a shop for a decade and that one was last minute as a gift for someone else.

The real reason that buying phones on contracts here from carriers is still such a common thing is that credit is cheap and easily accessible to so many even in this recession and the tariffs available are very competitive when you do. For as little as 8.50 UK pounds a month you can sign on the dotted line and walk out of a shop with a Galaxy Ace or a Lumia 520, 100 free mins of calls, 5000 texts and 500MB data a month, probably with some other gift thrown in free like last year's bargain basement tablet.

The UK Amazon Marketplace has a company selling unlocked Z30s but they are expensive and low on stock, EBay has the better deals though it seems for unlocked Z30s.

I have to stretch hard to reach the left bezel with my right thumb (I have a transform case which makes the phone enough bigger to be an issue). I have a hard time hitting the 0 (zero) key, otherwise the keyboard is easy to use. Performance was not a problem on the Z10 so the Z30 doesn't seem much better. In other words, it was fine before and is still fine. Miracast is a great. This turns out to be one of those things you didn't know you need until you get it. Same thing with USB Host Mode. Both of those are worth the cost of the upgrade to me.
That's a very good summary of the major differences in the user experience, thanks!

Looks like I will finally have to give up the one handed typing I've been used to since the Pearl days with the SureType reduced keyboard and then the Z10 which is just about usable single handed. The extra width of the Z30 will require both hands for me I think as I have small hands.

The USB host mode should come in very useful as I'm forever copying files between USB memory sticks at work, can do that on the move now!

Screen size and battery life are the big pluses.

Some apps/games missing are the minuses.

Also, the keys I was always hitting wrong on the Z10 keyboard are different keys I hit wrong on the Z30. I always missed the E and hit the R on the Z10. Now I am always hitting the period instead of the space.

I tried the game babel rising in both z10 and z30... such a significant difference... z30 processes those graphics flawlessly, thanks to the gpu.

Super awesome phone. Though I miss the easy reach on the z10.

Keep in mind it does not understand NTFS. The FATs should all work. I don't know about any of the Linux file systems.
I never use NTFS on memory sticks as my files rarely exceed 4GB in size so that's ok but it's a shame it couldn't be used with most external hard drives though.

Yes I do believe that when BB10 was delayed (again) for several months back on the summer of 2012 the Z10 and Q10 as they were then should have been scrapped and replaced with devices much more like the Z30 we have now in terms of specs.

Instead BB10 launched with phones a year old in their design and technology already.

just gone from 10 to 30...great battery life, really great. Great audio, great speed and smoothness, especially with last leak. What I dislike? Display resolution (Z10 is better) and I think also photocamera is a bit worse than Z10's one. It annoys me that you can accidentally mute the microphone, while speaking, when you trying to to set the audio volume and push the "middle" button. I don' t remember wether it was the same on the 10 or not, but I never had this problem with it, and I had this issue several time with the 30, until I understood where was the problem (people suddenly couldn't listen to me anymore).

For all the rest it's a "pimped Z10"

I've heard about people having "loose" volume buttons on their Z30 that are too easy to accidentally press, does that sound like it?

Certainly on the Z10 that's not the case.

I went from a Z10 to a Z30. I have loaded the latest leak 10.2.1.1925 and I must say the Z30 is damn awesome. Incredibly fast and smooth. The thing just rips! It's quite a bit heavier than the Z10 but it has a really well made solid feel to it. Awesome battery life. Fantastic reception.
It's a winner! Now if people would just try it.
