    Hello everyone,

I just got a Z30 on Amazon and I'm using it with T-Mobile. It's still running 10.2.1 and I tried to update it OTA, but it says it already has its latest update. Do I need to upload the latest software myself?

They originally sent me a STA 100 3 phone which updated itself but I'm guessing it's because the phone is with Verizon.

Since it's from Amazon, it's probably factory unlocked, which means it should allow you to update to 10.3.2.X without having to remove the T-Mobile SIM... however, you could always remove the SIM and update over Wi-Fi /or/ use BlackBerry Link to update. There is no need to update via the methods people use to install leaks.

I have the same variant, and I can confirm that's what I had to do (remove the SIM first).

The model usually sold, STA100-5, will work on AT&T but in some places, you might have trouble getting on LTE. There's one LTE band that AT&T uses that's different than T-Mobile. Otherwise, you can expect LTE, HSPA+, 3G, 2G. (This is from what I've read. I'm on T-Mobile myself.)

OK so I've tried the above method of removing the sim card and trying to update using Wi-Fi. It didn't work.

I've also tried resetting the phone doing the above process and no luck. I've also tried using Link and still no luck. I checked if the phone is unlocked, which it is.

Very odd. Maybe there's something temporary preventing it because there is a current roll out of a newer version of 10.3.2.X? There's no reason that your Z30 would require a forced update through leak install methods. If you're in a rush, go ahead with a leak install method. The newer version of 10.3.2.X hasn't hit the States yet. I'm waiting for it myself.

I was wondering if that was the reason it's not letting me update. Not really in a hurry, but I would like to see it get updated before the return period is over since it's thru a third party. I'll try again tomorrow. I've never actually tried uploading the OS before.

Got it working fellas. Although I tried autouploading a file 10.3.02.08676 it installed 668 instead (the same version on my Classic). I'm assuming the 0's are just there for placement.

If you go to Settings, About, use the drop-down to get to OS, you can see both the Release and Software numbers. BB has two numbers for some reason that just manages to confuse lots of folks.

    The Z30 STA100-5 supports LTE on 850 Band 5, 1700 band 4 and 2600 band 7. For 3G it supports 850 band 5, 1700 band 4, 1900 band 2 and 2100 band 1.

ATT wireless supports 3G on 850 and 1900. LTE on 850 and 1700 depending on the market.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT%26T...quency_summary

T-Mobile supports 3G on 1700 and 1900. it will appear as 4G on the phone because it uses DC-HSPA+ that runs at 42Mb/s. LTE on 1700.

In my opinion the best way to update your Z30 is via auto loader. back up your contacts via an email service such as google or hotmail. save your media on the microSD card. A backup using link will save your app data but you are better off with a fresh install.
