I got my z30 yesterday it's a great device. The one thing bothering me is the hissing sound that comes from the speakers when playing audio. I noticed this last night when listening to music on the speakers and watching a YouTube video. Do all phones do this or is it a device issue? It's a hissing/static noise, especially noticeable when listening to a video of someone talking.

My speakers sound pretty good, in fact they're the best built in speakers I ever tried,even better than my tablet...
Maybe it's just a hardware issue or the videos

It's a hardware issue, mine are crystal clear.

Hopefully you have the 15 day return policy.

Just to throw this in as well. Try out BlackBerry Virtual Expert, to test it out.

Will give the app a go. When I put headphones on the audio is great, otherwise you can hear a hissing when the audio is being pushed through the speaker.

Sounds like an external speaker defect. Exchange it.

Yup exchange that bad boy. I may have to get mine repaired. I see some dead pixels or something when I change my wallpaper.

Sorry bud, this is normal at low volumes. I returned my Z30 for the same reason. If you look at my post history, you'll find I made a thread about a month ago bemoaning the same issue. Every response was that the hissing is normal at low volumes.

STA 100-3 had a lot more noise compared to STA 100-5 that I am using right now, I barely hear it anymore.
I don't know if this is model specific or just poor wiring/low cut-off, etc..
I would definitely try replacement before i give up on it.

This is not just a defect, it's just poor QC and inconsistent assembly process. I bet they know about it and they figured most people won't notice it because you hear it when you turn down the volume to last few ticks, then all you hear is hiss..

There are many threads on this, but it never built momentum. Just like my "caller id doesn't recognize caller" thread.

Yup, as I've posted in other threads on this issue, I experience it as well, Z30STA100-5/10.2.1.2273.

Sucks but luckily I rarely listen to low volume speakers.
