I was really hoping Blackberry would take a risk, and hit it out of the park with the A10.
Looks like its just more of the same, a Z10 wrapped up in a five inch screen.

    WTF!! Blackberry.

I wanted to be able to say, Hay Bro ( he owns a S4 and Iphone) This is my Blackberry and
you have got to see what it can do, Oh and bye the way its bigger and better then yours......

This will still be my next phone, it just won't have the wow factor to get my bro to switch.

I find my Z10 to be better than other phones in some areas. It's sure as tall as most phones too, yet not as wide usually.

And you know... The Z10 performs very well. I'd expect the A10 to perform just as well.

So yeah, you'll get your bragging rights. Just don't get into an apps fight or it may get ugly.

I'm very skeptical of these leaked specs, but if it does indeed turns out to just be a bigger Z10 (as these specs seem to be suggesting), I'm going to be very disappointed.

I am completely with you. While ultra high end specs might not technically be needed, the A10 will be stacked up against the GSIV, iPhone 5s, and any other high end phone out there. Most consumers will just go by specs and will immediately knock the A10 off their list. It needs to have a "wow" factor and something that might knock the consumers' socks off to let them know that BlackBerry is still relevant.

I'll believe it when I see it. Seeing as it takes 2GB of RAM for BB10 to function properly, it's not exactly beefing up anything if it has (technically, minimum requirements) Beefed up specs would be looking at minimum 3GB with a full 1080p screen and all sorts. The RAM doesn't necessarily need to be beefed up, but other aspects such as the processor do.

    You're not getting a 1080p screen.

    • 5" OLED/HD/WXVGA, 1280X720, 24 bit color, S Stripe Pixel Arrangement, 295PPI
    • BlackBerry OS 10.2
    • 8MP Rear Camera with Flash, 5X 2MP Front Camera
    • MicoUSB, HDMI
    • 2800mAh Battery
    • 802.1b/g/n - HotSpot
    • NFC/DLNA/MicroSIM

And that's all I'm willing to give up... right now... cause there's different versions.

I hope they keep the Z series alive. I prefer something in the 4.2 to 4.6 inch range and I don't want a phone that looks like an S4...I love the look of the Z10. I won't want to upgrade for a couple years but I want a Z series phone when I do.

I don't know. I've tried all the big so called super phones out there and find my Z10 is better for my liking. I'm sure the A10 will be a welcome surprise, but unfortunately less educated people will say it's not powerful enough. To be safe from these critics, I think BlackBerry has to juice it up even when it's not necessary. Shame but true.

Yeah. S Stripe OLED. That should make for a sharp image. Much better image than pentile.

Whether BB10 needs high-spec hardware to run well or not is one thing, but people are going to want to feel like they're getting value for their money too. By the time this thing is released phones with those specs could well be going for free on contract, and if BlackBerry wants $199 for theirs just for the ability to run BB10 then it's going to be a tough sell.

whats wrong with an OMAP5 dual core? powerful A15 architecture and powerful Video processors. will it be a dual core i don't know Bla1ze said last year the A series would have a quadcore krait processor but we'll eventually soon find out.

though i doubt its an optimization issue with QNX that won't let BlackBerry do this, it'll more then liekly be an efficiency choice

I want to say there's no way BlackBerry would launch a 5" phone with 2GB RAM and a dual core processor and 720p display... that's literally a larger (and in some ways crappier) Z10. That would imply their definition of more powerful is simply larger.. and doesn't add up.

Ya exactly it's like when some one buys a big pickup truck with a diesel engine when you never plan on pulling a trailer.... its about principles. Being bigger and better then everyone else heh heh heh. So a10 should have bigger specs then other similar phones just because
