Would people's perception of it change? It's like the whole 295 looking much cheaper than 300 dollars thing. That extra tenth of an inch lol

I don't care that hardware is from 2010 anyway :)
But BlackBerry will always be behind in hardware terms.
I hope BlackBerry 10 goes open source as a rom.
I would buy a note 3 or xperia z1 direct and flash BlackBerry 10 on it

Oh no you didn't. The best spec phone of 2010 was the HTC EVO. Lol 1ghz single core, 480p screen, 512mb ram.

Well close enough heh
What I ment is that I would love an open source rom of BlackBerry 10 on a highend sony or Samsung but with the BlackBerry 10 security :)

I really doubt you going to feel any difference. Of that ever happens, which is not likely

Like maybe 35% close lol

Camera, support on devices are way better than BlackBerry have to offer.
Better screen resolution.
Able to run more at the same time because of more memory and faster cpu

The new xperia is ugly as sin

And the z30 doesn't win the beauty contest either ;) but at least the z1 has good specs compare to z30

No it would not because the 5 extra PPI with the type of display and the resolution would not make a difference. A flagship device should NEVER have lower specs in any respect than the supposed "entry" device. Also, BlackBerry should have designed all of the UI elements in such a way so that they scale properly for higher density displays. If they did design things properly we would be able to get a 5" 1920x1080 display with >400PPI and still have all of the UI elements and all applications running just fine on it. Remember, the actual aspect ratio does not change. It's still 16:9.
Bottom line is that they decided to cheap out on the display and they will pay the price for it. The Z30 will sell worse than either of the other devices, except maybe the Q5 which appears to have already gone into oblivion due to the fact that it is priced higher than most Z10 devices (even brand new) sold through independent marketplaces.
Those are the specs that the Z30 should have had, well, along those lines anyway. I do prefer the Z30 look though but looks are a matter of preference.
Actually they didn't "cheap out" they told developers that the first year of bb10 devices would be 720p.

Meaningless dribble. Scale the UI elements properly and the resolution does not matter.
Edit: Correction, it does matter, to games. They require more GPU horsepower to push the extra pixels.
ridiculous to say it is from 2010. Makes folks not seem near as smart as they would like to seem.
You all seem to forget that a quadcore cpu and a higher density display means that:
Cpu draws more power as a quadcore
Display draws more power
GPU draws more power to run higher resolution display
Get any of those newer quadcore phones to go longer than 12 hours. It just doesn't happen.
Android might need the quadcore to run multiple apps. QNX is much better at resource management and doesn't need the same horsepower to run multiple apps. You saw this with the playbook and now with the BB10 devices. The QNX backbone really is superb. Very rarely do I get lag or stutter on the Z30 + the battery life can stretch past a day pretty easily if needed. As for my buddys running the quadcore adreno 320 based N4, they are lucky to get a full 8 hours running custom roms and conserving battery at every turn.
It's a tradeoff and one I will gladly make.
i don't really care of the PPI either. but the massive battery, the quad core Adreno 320 GPU and the S-Stripe sAMOLED really make the difference.
specs don't mean anything without the cohesive cooperation with the OS. that's where QNX comes into the equation.
S3 dual-core was 2010 ;)
S4 quad-core was q1 2012
And we are almost in 2014..
So BlackBerry z30 is like 2011/2012 hardware for a 2014 price

Yeah put those specs into any phone and you're lucky to get 8hour out of it. The z30 doesn't need all that! Well they definitely could've done a way better job with the camera...

The parts may have existed but they weren't in phones yet.

Have anybody read an article about: more cores doesn't mean faster nor better? Try to Google it. Lol.
Diminishing returns

I see your point and I think it's a great trade off too..... but, if the phones with quad-core, and 1080p resolutions and higher MP cameras are being offered at the same price as Z30 then does it not mean that BlackBerry should take advantage of the situation by offering hardware at a lower price and be competitive instead of being greedy..

Naysayers will never get it. Why even bother?

Not with android 4.4

Let them live in their fantasy world. You are ruining it for everyone.
Also, you know what they all said about the Z10 and the fact that it can only get 10h-14h of battery life - "it's fine, what are you complaining about".
The battery life is great. I would take that over the 1080p screens put there.
