I know there has been a lot of battery arguments over the past, how to read stand by values, usage values etc. What is the definition of heavy use, moderate etc. Well Thursday night I decided I will charge my z30 overnight, stay from the office and work at home. This way I could punish the z30 all day long. The nice thing about the battery graph is that it represents how hard you are running your device consistently. The steeper the slope, the more battery demand. So below shows the usage of my test. From 7:00 am Friday till 2:00 am Saturday. From the time I got up I browsed the Internet, chatted on CB, streamed a Netflix movie, HDMI out to big screen, answered emails, viewed pdfs and autocad dwgs, BBM, talked on phone including Canada to Cuba, ran android apps along with native ones, Bluetoothed music constantly almost, had wifi on constantly.....etc. I ran the z30 as hard as one could.....at 2:00 am I was done......i think I have a z30 hangover today......Anyhow I never have to worry about the battery on my z30. Now that folks is a true test and testimony of the battery on the z30. It will be a long time till I do that again....rigor mortis is setting in now I think! Lol

I tried to Kill my Z30, and in the end it Killed Me!-img_20140208_020434.png

19 hours at an extreme constant pace, with 6 more hours to go at that rate.....so 25 hours at that pace is enough to make you go stir crazy.

Have you had the device for a while now or is it brand new?

The graph doesn't show demand it shows use. The steeper the slope, the more juice is being used over less time.

Having wifi on actually saves battery not uses it.. try it on LTE or 3G and I promise it will be half the standby time

Z30 is simply amazing. I can go 17 hours with my Z10 but I'll be using it very minimally.

This cannot be more untrue. If you have good signal it's as bad or as good. At home my wi-fi is a punishment for my battery usually

Running the wifi, is running another radio. If i leave wifi off, which I used to do all the time on my z10, I had much better battery usage. I never worried about using the Rogers network as I have 6 gig per month. I find running all radios is more demanding. However the point was, I used the phone constantly trying to kill it. There is no harder use.....no one would do what I did yesterday in a day......i can't do anymore really to prove out the z30 battery. It really is a workhorse.

I say he does a test with wifi off and goes to places that have low signal then we'll see how much battery usage is left.

The test does not state if only wifi, or a combination of both wifi and cell data was on unless the tester has wifi calling.

Well I am not going to sit 24 hours on a mountain top......sure any device polling for connection all the time is going to burn battery.....but is that really the point. And as mentioned earlier, it will be a while before I do that again.....a z30 hangover is possible.....lol

Both were in use. I did not set up a specific use.....when I was at the arena for my son's hockey practice I was on LTE for at least 2 hours for sure....i do not have connection issues however.

Quite impressive. One question: did you got the OS 10.2.1 update? seems that it improves the hardware performance even more. Best regards.

Let me rephrase. It doesn't show your use, it shows the battery's use. So you can make all sorts of demands on the phone but if they don't consume power, the graph will drop slowly. Likewise, if there is a glitch somewhere, you might not be using the phone at all, ie no demand, but if the line is steep there is a leak somewhere.
To sum it up, my point was the graph does not illustrate how hard you were working the phone, it only shows the battery level at a given time.

Yes I'm very positive that wifi uses less power, my Z10 for example can squeeze 10 hours of non stop usage while on wifi.. on H+ it hardly ever ticks the forth hour...

Do your own testing, but I've always had it like that with all my phones, thought it was common knowledge haha

You put the words in my mouth haha I was just about to say that I thought it was common knowledge that when you're using wifi you will get better battery life.

Technically if your phone is on, it uses power. How hard you are working the phone is indicated by the drop in battery level.

For example I have the bleacher report app and it's a battery monger. All I do is read articles on it for like 20 mins and 10% is gone

This part of your post caught my eye. I also have friends in Cuba and add money to there cell phones once in a while during double money promotions. I do this with the "ding Cuba " android app from snap. Works great. Just letting you know.

17 hours? What are you guys talking about?
I have been running mine 24hrs so far, and I traveled all day yesterday with Tune In streaming, checking web, getting emails, etc.. It's not even %50 so far.,
Sadly I don't run latest leak so I cannot post a screenshot to prove this but I can assure you it's not even %50.
If there is any screen I can show you guys I'd be more than happy to.
