My Z30 fell of my hands on a hard ceramic ground and went skating , the result was as shown in the photo! The local BB dealer asked for USD 400 to change the whole screen for me , the digitizer is working, the phone is working it is only the glass.
BB 10 is not a popular device in my country, especially the z30

is this normal? or shall i buy a new device ? or maybe leave it as is?

    I just dropped my Z30 - Screen cracked-cracked-z30.jpg

There are some threads here on replacing the screen, if you're comfortable attempting that. Let me see if I can find them.

A cracked screen following a fall for any phone is normal, though they don't always crack. All depends on how it lands, and what it lands on. I see you have a screen protector on, which only protects from scratches. I feel your pain, I would be devastated if I dropped mine and the screen cracked. I use a flip case at work, and a bumper case all other times. I do find the back of the Z30 slippy. However if I were to drop it, and the screen cracked I cant blame Blackberry. I would keep on using it and either save up for a replacement or new screen.

I know people who get replacement screens from eBay.

Perhaps you will find for the z30. Now, if you don't felt comfortable, pretty sure you will find someone who is capable. One important point, you will loose warranty.

Same here. My screen is not working. It's just dark. But I found that only digitizer seems to be damaged because no there is no liquid. Dealer here in Czech Republic asks for 400 $ too.

I am saving up money and I am going to buy whole new screen from ebay and replace it myself.

There are some good video tutorials on how to replace the Z30 screen on YouTube and I believe there is at least one that was posted on CB as well. It's definitely cheaper to fix it yourself but very time consuming.

I'm lucky. I use a pocket pouch which doesn't cover the top if the phone. Sometimes I put my phone in my top jacket pocket. I have now bent over 3 times to pick something up on concrete and out falls my phone right on the unprotected top. Just one small chip in a corner and it is still working fine.

I try to remember not to put my phone in that pocket now lol.

Yeah, I had taken my Otterbox off my Z30 and put the phone into my BlackBerry leather holster. Then I dropped it, and the exposed corner hit the ground which scratched it. I have now put the Otterbox Commuter case back on the Z30 !!

I had the same experience! I took my Otterbox off my Z30 and put it into the BlackBerry holster. Then I dropped it and the phone hit the ground on the exposed corner, which scratched it. I have now put the phone back in the Otterbox since it protects the entire edge of the phone. Live and learn, I guess.....

Z30 screen is the easiest I've replaced, my Verizon model has 8 screws and one flip lock on the cable ribbon. Was $45.00 from amazon.

$400?!?! From what I've seen, screen replacement runs between $100 and $200....$400 is robbery, imo. I would fix it myself before I paid that much.

    I bought Z30 for $850 + $75 for 64 GB media card + $25 for microHDMI cable.

You people across the ocean crying that $600 or $700 for the phone is too much but your salaries are 4-10 times higher than most people get in the Czech Republic.

Does it matter what type of screen I buy for my Z30? I mean... they are same for every single Z30... or not?
