I was trying to climb onto an apartment building balcony in the rain... and drunk, slipped and fell into a sort of concrete garden bed. Must have landed on the corner of the concrete by the looks of it. Received a nice cut on my forehead for my effort. The worst bit is that it was a bday present from my mum. She's staying with me at the moment. So instead of having to tell her how I broke it and see the disappointment in her face, I bought another one the next morning. $672. And I scratched my car driving into the car park. Worst. Weekend. Ever... so far.

Wow. Emotionally painful to even think about.
On the positive side, I have heard lots of stories of "worst days ever" that became positive turning points. Consider yourself fortunate that you have a mom who would (and could afford to) buy you a great phone like that, and consider this a life lesson about the stupid things that can happen when you drink too much. Better a broken phone than a broken neck, or driving your car into oncoming traffic.
OK. I'm off of the soapbox. Seriously, glad you're OK and hope you have better fortunes with the new phone.

Consider this: Your Z30 saved you...from having a small rectangular part of your **** reconstructed.

650 dollars for a new Z30 or...65,000 dollars for surgery. Consider it a win for your wallet, and your @ss.

OP... I will admit, at the sight of the photos, I had a tear in my eye. The life of such a beautiful device, extinguished far too soon. It is in a better place now, and will live on in hearts and memories.

On the plus side, at least you walked away from that one yourself. It could have gone far worse.

Lucky it was just the phone and not your life. Might want to reconsider your lifestyle a little. Next time you might not be so lucky.

i can get a new LCD and glass for it for around 115-130 bucks (you probably won't be able to find it cheaper). I can heat and bend the chassis back to straight-ish. Throw a protective case on it, and you won't be able to tell it's been mangled unless the case is off.

I'm more interested in seeing if I can fix it than anything else.

I would bet it's at least no.4 stainless steel.

is the appearance it gives. much like the bold 9900

that picture is what leads me to believe it's stainless, seeing as how there was enough for the buttons to separate but not break, plus no sign of breakage in the perimeter where it twisted.

Was everyone ok? Is that an ambo in the background? Unfortunately, I too know the pain of writing off a car. $55,000. Luckily that was insured, still lost over 5g in excess fees though. And a mate broke a rib.

The only thing I wanted it to do after that was to be able to connect to the computer so I could back up everything. But it doesn't do anything
