Get a pocket pouch or flip case and you will be fine. I wouldn't chance putting it in your pocket naked. No matter how careful you are it will eventually end up in there with a set of keys....

Using the screen protector that came with the transform case. Thin. I don't even know it's there.

No case, no protector, nothing on mine. And not a single scratch. I've been using the z30 since it came out on vzw network, and I'm usually the worst on phones.

As long as you don't have sand in your pocket, it doesn't scratch that easily.

I found that my Z10 display scratched really easily, so I put a screen protector on my Z30 as soon as I got it. I'm assuming BlackBerry uses the same glass for both.

I never picked up major scratches, but after a few weeks of use I noticed some minor surface scratches that were visible in good light.

I think there's a protector called ghost armor.... if I'm thinking correctly at least.

I would like to try that for my z30 as it appears almost impossible to scratch.

I use mine naked, and doesn't have any scratches at all.
Probably because I am very careful and don't put anything else in the pocket that my z30 sits in.
I have a screen protector and a Black Leather Pocket Pouch coming in the mail though, to ensure my device doesn't get scratched.
I don't like cases they detract from the phones good looks....

I frequently carry mine without any protection*, and I'll concur with this. The glass on the Z30 is great.

*Granted, I'm not an ***** and tend to avoid putting the naked screen in the same pocket as keys, coins, and other edgy metal objects...

I can live without a case on my phone (although it need to be in a protective leather pouch when not in use) but I can't live without a screen protector on it. Seriously, consider using one. Don't wait until something happens.

Have had the Z30 for a couple months, no scratches, prefer it naked, keep it in my pocket, and I never put anything else in my pocket, just in case. Enjoy your Z30

That's a matter of opinion. I would define a case as an enclosure for the device so it can be protected while it is being actively used.
(Actively used meaning typing, making calls). With the leather pouch you can't use the device while in the pouch, you have to take the device out to use it.
I see cases as semi permanent...... A pouch is not.

Haha the definition of a word isn't really open to interpretation.

A leather pouch is a case. It's irrelevant though, whether he likes to use it or not that's fine. I'm just saying it is a case.

I'm running both my Z30 and Z10 in a leather like wallet case without screen protection no scratches what so ever. These wallet style cases I find are the best so far. fosmon for Z10 and S & L IMP for my Z30.

Corning Gorilla glass wont scratch easily, it's even not likely to get scratched.
But it gets broken more than easy.

The glass isn't the same on the Z30 as the Z10.

I've never put a screen protector on mine and it's still mint. I've dropped it a couple of times too. I do try to take good care of it. It lives in my front right pants pocket with nothing else. No loose change or keys in that pocket, ever.

I never waste money on silly screen protectors for any of my phones.

I've had my Z30 for months and use it in construction type work, often with dirty fingers and areas that can be quite dusty. Nothing a wipe doesn't fix when I get home.

Haven't dropped it yet, but if I do, I will deal with it.

In my opinion I think you will be fine. I used the pocket pouch with my Z10 for months and didn't scratch it. I was using my Z30 naked with a pouch until I got an Otter Box case.
