A "new" Z30 is coming from GSMnation tomorrow.

How can I tell if it's a new phone or someone else's returned phone?
(are there a global usage counters I can pull up?)

(They said it "may" be opened/inspected/repackaged when I emailed them tonight on this)

    Thanks!!

Well, the obvious physical inspection but a good thing is to crack open the back cover and check for lint and dirt near the battery. Also, download Battery Lover from BB world and check if Battery health is 100%.

    Hope this helps

The battery thing wouldn't help because most phones don't come with a battery that is 100% because of natural discharge in the battery.

There is a few things you can do. Arun is correct a good physical inspection will definitely help. Also make sure that the tape they use to secure the box is not easily open. you shouldn't be able to peel away the tape. it should take a little bit of effort.

sometimes what they mean by that is that its refurbished, so it could mean it was repair and repackaged. At least they said that right up front. Instead of you find out that it was opened and played with for awhile.

I really hope its new for you, DudeBrain.

Yah, I'm mainly wondering if it was a customer return or not, since they said
it's "new but may have been inspected and repackaged."

Is it unlocked? If so they may have put that there as they would have opened it to do the unlock code?

It is unlocked (I was hoping factory unlocked.)

So apparently there's no diagnostics hotkey or anything to dump usage stats?

    I brought a 10x loupe today to inspect :-)

I know I'm probably just paranoid, but $600 is not cheap!

I want to revive this thread to ask if anything on the engineering screens will have usage data. With BBOS you could always type in BUYR. Is there no way here to tell?

****EDIT**** I see in the engineering screen under General Radio there is a Call Counter. I wonder if it resets with a wipe. Anyone know?
