When I plug my new headphones in my z30, music stops, videos freeze and YouTube won't load. When the headphones are unplugged, everything is normal.

When I run neutron MP, I can play music though the speakers (with the headphones unplugged) but as soon as I plug them in, the sound stops (even tho song is still playing). If I unplug them, there still is no sound even though the song is playing. If I restart the app, it crashes and fails to load.

The volume control says "headphones" and raises/lowers volume normally.

I restart my z30 and everything works as per normal, EXCEPT When I plug in my headphones.

    Any ideas?

Here is some more info that might help or make things more confusing. It's a standard 3-pin 3.5mm headphone jack. However when I use my phone in my car for music it too is a 3-pin cable. Also, the headphones work with my girlfriend's iPhone (sigh)

It called my audio cable in my car "line out" where as my headphones "headset" when I plugged them in.

It sounds as if their jack/plug is non-standard. Are they fully plugged in - sometimes they require a bit of extra pressure to fully seat them in the socket.

As suggested, try another pair of headphones. I've used my phone with a variety of headphones.

Some headphones are created for certain platforms.
Typically the Apple paraphernalia works on BlackBerry phones...
I have Seinnheiser MM 30i and they work amazingly well.

I also have Monster DNA on ear noise isolation that every-so-often will unplugged a bit shutting off my music.

As F2 said, try a different set of headphones first.
