I believe is the app say it the new feature that let's you use the mute button to access it.
If by mistake you hit the mute only one time it just keeps recording

That mute button sucks. What were they thinking putting cheap buttons like that on a premium phone....

Thanks, I am going to delete sayit app and keep an eye on things.
    Here's how I verified it:

    1) Delete the bg.amr file from the Device/misc folder.
    2) Launch SayIt using the side mute button and say a command.
    3) Close out of SayIt and look in the Device/misc folder -the bg.amr file will be there with your new audio clip.

So apparently this is the "temp" file used by SayIt. Now I just need to test it for a while to see if it actually is recording on it's own.

This is why I don't usually allow apps access to my file system. Pretty scary, but at least we can prevent access through permissions.

So what if there's no file created when using Sayit via mute button? I've been using this for the last week since updating Sayit, no file like that was ever created.

I don't have SayIt and I'm just spit-balling here, but it went headless in the past week or two I believe. What os versions are you and Sklotz running? If they differ, that might lead to something.

Sure enough there is, but you'll have to load the leak to get app of this calibre:

[False Alarm] I was Snooping on my BlackBerry Z30 and found a bg.amr file-img_20140117_220006.png

i deleted SayIt from my phone and i have the same file on my Z10 with an Hour & 1/2 recording and I recognized something I said out loud a few hours ago. So something triggered this and it's not SayIt. at least not for me.

From this thread, I found something weird.
My camera picture file is in Device/camera
But I can find the same pictures in Device/misc/android/DCIM/Camera
Wtf! The only Android app I sideloaded is Line Messenger which I rarely use nowadays.

Do you guys allow "Access to shared files" when you installed this application?
I wonder how SayIt generated a file in that location.

I usually revoke this permission during application installation and expect that application generated files will be in a sandbox inaccessible by other apps.

It is pretty common for android apps to take permissions on many resources that don't make sense to the apps purpose. These are non-negotiable usually as well. Check the app permissions.

Every time you 'record' a request for SayIt, it saves this bg file to the misc folder.
On the latest version it immediately removes this file when the request is processed, but it still gets indexed into the Music app.

This leaves a 'ghost' of this file in the Music app, without being able to play or remove it.

If I had to take a guess, maybe you use another app which uses recording (anything that responds to sound), and happens to name the temporary file bg.amr as well (seems like a generic name). Maybe a phone call recording app, a voice note app or somethin alike. All I know for sure is it would be an app that has the "shared files" permission.
