Yeah there is a definite difference in outdoor performance with this screen. The anti-glare coating really helps.

That's good to hear. I don't remember reading about an anti-glare coating though. Not being able to use a phone in the sunlight comfortably is a problem with some phones, so this piece of info is definitely good to hear for people who don't live their entire lives indoors.

One of the reviews I read made mention of it, I can't remember exactly which one.

Ya the direct sunlight does not affect the screen I tried it on Full brightness on my z30 and I could still read everything through the glare if I angled it just right so it would glare

Does the Z30 come with a factory installed screen protector? I thought I read that somewhere.

Well sorta... it's not really a "screen protector".. it's the same plastic film on the back side aswell...but it works as one, I used it for a week before I got a normal screen protector

In May, while we were in the bright sunshine in Turkey, 2 Japanese girls asked me to take their picture using their Samsung Galaxy S3. To see the display, I had to remove my sunglasses to see the S3 display to take the photo. After I took the photo, I asked them to look at it. For them to view it, I saw them use what appeared to be their regular drill of removing their sunglasses and shading the S3 display with their hands. They smiled and thanked me. I asked if they could show it to me. They handed their S3 phone to me and the picture was barely visible with my sunglasses off. I asked them to look at the same photo I had just taken using my Z10 (without them in it of course!). They seemed surprised they could view the photo on the Z10 in the direct sunlight without shading it. I said "it's a BlackBerry!" and they said "very good, better than Samsung". It kinda made my day.

Yeah it was my Z10, but now we have a Z30 in the family and it's display is just as bright and maybe even a little clearer than the Z10 - and both of them have way better visibility in direct sunlight than any Samsung Galaxy we have seen out and about.

Glad to hear the sunlight visibility is better than galaxy S3. I will be replacing my S3 with Z30 soon and so was researching on this issue.
I saw the gsmarena review which shows the s3 much higher contrast than z10 and z30 and was worried that the z30 screen wont be visible outdoors. Good to see that the reality is just the opposite
