Digitizer not part of the top layer of glass on a Z30?

So yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with the Manager of Developer Relations for Blackberry for coffee (And to pick up a Dev Alpha B) Well he had with him a Z30. But unfortunately the screen was smashed (Got dropped with headset in and landed on the connection point and the screen shattered) That being said, it was still usable!! Even with the shattered screen gestures and touch still worked. Anyone know if the digitizer is now separate from the top layer of glass on the Z30? If so this would be great. Much better idea.

Well, my Z10s screen is cracked and missing a chunk, but still works, so it doesn't surprise me.

That's the thing though, it wasn't just cracked, it was totally shattered top to bottom. I had that happen with a Bold 9900 and it definitely did not work anymore and I had to replace the digitizer/glass layer.

They might have seen that its not the best idea to integrate them. Also its not LCD its AMOLED which might not allow for the same type of integration.

You know, that might make sense. Going to send him a BBM and ask, just thought I would check here first if someone already knew something. Will post my findings :)

In case anyone wonders, this still works 100%.
