Did anyone upgrade from the Z30 to the Passport? Any regrets? Is the Z30 a better fit? Is it worth it?

I'm about to. Guess I should come back to this topic when I've had a feel for the new Passport.

I'm never gonna give up my Z30, unless an even better Z50 comes out!

Now.....I was just reading the specs on the new BB Passport and looks like it does take a Nano-SIM instead of a Micro SIM.
Suppose for instance, that one wants to upgrade from an UNLOCKED Z30 to an UNLOCKED Passport (which takes Nano SIMs), then what will happen in that sense?

Will one need to go to a mobile carrier shop like T-Mobile for example and buy a Nano SIM in this case?
    How will this all work?
I would imagine that they will provide a Nano SIM but it will then have a different phone number unless they can transfer the number from the Z30 over to the Nano SIM that will be inserted to the Passport...

    Can anyone explain this process?
Not only the Passport for that matter, but what if like a Z40 or a Z50 comes out which can be a Nano SIM type slot???

So what if one has a Z30 (MicroSIM) and needs a NanoSIM for these future newer models?

    Thanks.

Me, I love my Z30 but I said to myself I would try any new device BlackBerry will bring to the market until I truly fall in love with the right one, I may or not made a mistake, time will tell, but one thing for sure I will never cross ship unless BlackBerry is dead.

So for example, If I wanted to upgrade my Z30 (which takes MicroSIMs), to a Passport, which takes a Nano SIM, then what would happen?
Can I go to a local GSM shop that sells Nano SIMs and buy it which then of course would have a different local number?
I'm very new at this when it comes to mobile tech.
Just planning ahead in case I wanted to upgrade to a Passport or even newer BB models.

You can get the same number. They will do a SIM snap on your number / account. Which carrier are you on?

I just purchased the Passport from shop at BlackBerry and it should be delivered tomorrow. I just wanted to know if it's the same experience as the Z30. I love the Z30 and wish it had the Passport specs. Thanks for your feedback

I will be soon, I've ordered one so just waiting for it to be shipped.

As much as I love my z30, I played with one yesterday here in Selfridges in London UK and absolutely loved it. I have missed the physical keyboard alot so can't wait to get my hands on one. The virtual keyboard on the z30 as good as it is, just isn't good enough for me to blast 30+ emails a day.

I have, and so far I'm impressed - it has never been so easy to transfer contacts, apps, email accounts, images. I basically turned on the Passport, signed in to Blackberry world, restored from a back up and the Passport is working exactly as my Z30 did, even passed over all my settings for the HUB++ LED app. I'm glad I made the upgrade.

Call your cell provider for a nano sim. I just called fido and used my fido dollars. 10 bucks. If you want to use the nano sim in your z30 pick up a sim adapter set from Amazon or Ebay for using it in phones with regular or micro sims. I picked a 3 pc. adapter set for a few bucks and they work great.

Good unbiased review. I guess if the author would use the phone for an extended period his views on the phone being too wide may change. We are just too accustomed to the cylinder phone factor. Go wide!!!

I like my Z30 very much.

But the wide Passport is much more appealing to me.

Went to play with one yesterday at the store, admittedly, initial split second reaction was shock!, but as I used it, it started to make sense. And dayum, is that keyboard nice! I miss it.

When I walked away after playing with it...... I was a believer.

Likely will be picking up a Passport in the next week or so.

I have. After a Z10 and a Z30 the physical keyboard is a challenge but I'm getting the hang of it again. There are three touch rows, the highest is for attachments. Even more when using symbols.

Some things, important for me are way better: reading documents, the Economist, minor editing, an architectural website, banking/spreadsheet type apps or websites. And calendars.

Some aren't as good, some video but one can enlarge from the landscape with black bars. And use reader mode.

Screen resolution is amazing. Now if only I could use dark theme everywhere.

I don't think size is much of a factor. It fits in all but undersized shirt and pant pockets. It's lighter than my Z30 with case. I think if you try handling it you'll agree.

I have a Z30 and picked up the Passport launch day. No regrets. A bit of a familiarization period, but that's to be expected. Everything works faster. Blend is great. Also, I have old eyes, so the larger screen lets me have the font bumped up without loosing as much space.

If you go to a nano sim for the passport, don't use one of the adapters to convert back to micro for the z30 (or 9900 etc). Lots of people including myself have found out that these adapter break the pins in the sim tray and aren't cheap to fix. You have been warned
