    Dear editors

I request you to please take up the issue of sudden BBM battery drain with BlackBerry.

It's really frustrating to check 'device monitor ' after every half hour or so. I see a lot of users are facing this problem.

    Thanks

If you have a sudden battery drain then an app most likely is doing this. All you have to do is look in the device monitor to find it and do something about it. I don't see how this is an issue when you can clearly find out what it is.

Also, device monitor showed it's because of BBM.
I have tried every possible permutations and combinations but all in vain. Even did a factory reset.

Did you uninstall it, and then re-install BBM?

I have had this happen several times on multiple devices.

When you check device monitor it's all BBM draining the battery.

I agree this should be taken up with BlackBerry

Does seem like a legitimate bug, but at least it can be solved by doing a hard reset (holding down the up and down volume keys simultaneously).

Seems i am very lucky in this regard . No issues on BBM eating battery on my Z10 or my new Z30. Mine sitting at 1.7% for BBM. But must be frustrating for those that have this bug

BBM cannot be un-installed. I wish I could uninstall it, I only have 3 contacts in BBM.

Yes, you can, I should have stated "Delete", not uninstall. Delete it, then go to BB World and re-install it.

Bbm is ok most of the time. I find that when carrier/ isp have issues with BlackBerry noc, they start misbehaving in the battery department.

Don't blame BlackBerry for "sudden battery drain"... blame the carrier's poor signal.
I have no sudden battery drain unless I'm in a poor signal area. I test this out constantly by the way. Take note of the times you have the drain and figure out where you were. Go back there and you will most probably see what I mean. I average 15 hours of battery/charge on my Z10 as a "constant user" of my phone.

Last Sunday I had this issue too with BBM and battery drain. And I don’t even use BBM at all, I don’t even have a single contact ! on the battery monitor BBM used 60% of my battery! Had to do a reset

Have you tried setting BBM to not broadcast what your listening to? I noticed changing that makes a small difference on my z30.

Open BBM, skip down from the top bezel.

I don't use BBM, so this doesn't affect me. But, I would be very upset at Blackberry or any other device manufacturer if there is a sudden and excessive battery drain from one of their proprietary apps just because I am driving in an area where the Carrier's signal is not strong!

Guys those who say the BBM drain is not a big deal, you clearly haven't seen it happen.
I've a group of 10 friends with BlackBerry10 devices. And this glitch affects only one of us and she doesn't use bbm at all unless to contact me. Draining 77% within 8hrs time frame is a huge concern. As the OP said, it's irritating to keep checking the device monitor every half hr to see if bbm is misbehaving. And doing a hard reset every couple of days too could be frustrating for new users.

And from what I gather out of the numerous threads on Cb about this bug, this affects mostly the people who use bbm the least. BlackBerry should address this issue as it is catastrophic. Because the ones facing this bug are users who use bbm the least, which in turn means they're new to BlackBerry devices in the first place.
So this could be a major turn down for them. Please do give it a thought with an open mind.
