With the weather getting colder now, I am in the process of figuring out my winter running routine. I much prefer running outdoors even when the temperature is below freezing. However, I run with my trusty Z30 for multiple reasons (safety, run tracking and music being the primary ones) and I am concerned that there could be permanent damage to my Z30 with exposure to the cold temperatures. Does anyone have any experience with or have some ideas if the Z30 can handle colder temps for brief periods (say 2 hours) of time? Is there any concern with permanent damage? I realize that battery will be effected due to cold but will this cause permanent damage to the battery? I typically run until the temp gets to about -20degC (-4F). Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

PS, I am well aware of using a ziploc to keep moisture out and not opening the ziploc until the device is back to room temperature due to condensation.

I would think the phone would love the cold. it's heat it doesn't do well with.

If you use it in an arm band or something similar, your body heat will help.

-30 in Banff last December, no issues apart from touchscreen needing warm fingers. But it wasn't left out on a rock overnight ;-)
