I sent a new Z30 to a friend (Unlocked device directly from BlackBerry).

I loaded the 10.2.1.1055 leak and all worked ok before I sent it to him.

When he got it he said it's asking him for a device password. But the strange thing is that I didn't put any on it.

So the bottom line is how can he wipe it without the password? using link doesn't work because it the leak is newer than the official that he's trying to load. And if he tries to use an autoloader, I think it will ask him for the device password as well.

    Any ideas?

If the wrong password is entered 10x, the phone automatically wipes.

Did you sideload anything? Enter a PW for development mode?

Come to think of it, I may have left it in dev mode when I sent it to him. I tried to do a side load of password keeper, but it didn't want to let me.

But I didn't put any password on it. He said he entered an incorrect password 10x already, but it's not wiping itself.

If you put it in dev mode I thought you had to put a password on it. think hard what would you have used...

For dev mode it only asks for a password if you put a device password on it already.

In 10.2.1.1055, when you set up dev mode, the password in dev mode also becomes the password to unlock your phone. I would have to input the password to turn off dev mode, and go to screen lock settings to input the password to turn off screen lock as well.
