So long story short I'm most likely leaving my job at a cellphone kiosk (at&t, sprint, and Verizon) and going to a corporate AT&T store. I plan to use my upgrade before i get out of Dodge because if i leave that job they dont charge an ETF and would give me 10 days to port out. I know the Verizon phones come unlocked, but what exactly would I get network wise from AT&T? I tried using Google and didn't see anything definitive. I really want to stay with BlackBerry for my work phone but I need to find a phone I can get HSPA+ on the phone.

Works yes. No LTE. GSMNation.com has a nice table of compatibility

I'm getting 5 bars of 4G all along the North East coast with a Verizon Z30 on AT&T. I haven't gotten LTE yet, but I also haven't installed a non Verizon OS, and some have said that limited LTE is available if you install a non Verizon OS (after the device is unlocked and the AT&T sim is loaded) , because, theoretically, there's a firmware ban on band 4 in Verizon's OS's. I can't verify the theory, because I haven't installed an OS after dropping my AT&T sim in, but I'm happy with the coverage I'm getting regardless.

Your OS has nothing to do with LTE. FYI the OS is the same between all the devices. The radio file/bar is what is different between device type (Q10, Z10, Z30, etc.). There is one radio file for the Z30s, and what determines if you get LTE is if y7r device's hardware supports the LTE bands in the area for your carrier.

So you have nothing to reinstall or update to get LTE. You will get it if your device has a radio frequency for LTE in the area you are in.

I have seen more people report success with the STA100-5 getting LTE in select cities with AT&T, and I have seen less reports with the STA100-3 (the Z30 Verizon variant).

You will get HSPA+ and possibly LTE if they use the 1700Mhz band in your area.

Right. What I meant was, when I originally installed the OS / Radio, the phone was still locked to Verizon, so when it searched for carrier specific updates, if there was a firmware block on band 4, instituted by Verizon, I installed it, and I'm limited by it at the moment. I don't know if there actually is, but some threads present a lot of evidence for the argument that Verizon does institute a firmware block on that band. If I had put my SIM in before loading the radio and OS, etc., I wouldn't have that block in place (assuming it exists).

I have never heard of a firmware block on a radio band, much less with BlackBerry 10 devices.

If you want to know if the band is enabled on your phone, download this app:

Select Radio, RF Bands, and turn on the filter. You should get this view to show you which RF Bands are enabled :

Hm. Maybe it's not then. It had been suggested in other threads on the subject that that was the case, so I figured I'd put it out there.

Was driving through Springfield, MO recently , I was getting LTE in band 4 in that metro area on AT&T using a Verizon Z30.

Just curious. Who's your carrier? And to all American Z30 -3 owners, whose SIM card do you have in your devices? I have T-Mo for my Nexus. 4, and AT&T for my iPhone 4S, and am contemplating replacing T-Mo for Verizon, mainly because of coverage.
