Dropped my Z30 down concrete stairs while filming video and I think the camera broke.

    Broken camera-img_20140329_194254.png

It lets me take a picture but when I go to view it, it doesn't show up in the gallery. Then when I go back to the camera it comes out with the error shown on the attached screenshot.
The flashlight works when I activate it from the pull down menu, as long as I haven't taken a picture on the camera app in the last few minutes. Photos in my camera album load up blurry as well.

However, I can take a photo on snap2chat and send it to myself or others with absolutely no issues.

Sending the Z30 in for repair is possibly an option, but only if I have to. I've tried restarting/turning off for 10 mins and trying again to no avail. Any help on this issue?

Have you tried to reboot the phone?
Hold the power button, you'll see the lock sand restart button, keep holding it until you see the BlackBerry logo come up

If you're managing to take pictures and send them and others can see them your camera obviously isn't broken

    Yep just restarted now!

Interestingly, when it rebooted and I went on to the camera, it said the SD card wasn't detected! So I took the card out, took a picture on the internal memory, and it works without complaint. As for the SD card however...the phone won't acknowledge it exists, and goes into error mode when I try to save pictures onto the SD.

Checking the card+slot for problems now - I'd rather a broken memory card than a broken camera

//EDIT: Device is getting VERY hot around the memory card area...say 40c or something. Using the camera heats it up further, so I'm suspecting actually an SD issue.

I've had this issue before on my old Z10. A restart fixes it!

Changed to a new media card - no longer getting super hot now, so I'm guessing that card was damaged. Phone still not detecting the new card though...looking into it after another restart.

Old card copying data very slowly when plugged into my PC - clearly fried

Concluded that somehow the Z30 destroyed the card and not itself, probably due to the fact I was recording at the time (Phew!)

As always, thanks for the suggestions and help

I'm guessing you have your camera save directly to memory card. So it was obviously something that happened when you dropped the phone while the memory card was being written.
Either way glad everything is well and working as it should

Once you download all the data from the card you may want to reformat it and try to use it again. It might be salvageable.

Yep all photos/videos save to the card, must have been what killed it.

I formatted it in the phone 3 times, erased it, formatted again, and it worked! About 1/2 my data was there, the rest was backed up thanks to BlackBerry Link. I think I'm going to take back my dislike for the software!
