FYI...
We won't be blogging this thing on the homepage. If you're looking for the reason, let me remind you of this blog post and podcast from last year:
The iMore Podcast where CrackBerry Kevin and Windows Phone Dan talk about how stupid this Smartphone Madness contest is... | CrackBerry.com
For the last few years Laptop mag has done their Smartphone Madness contest, and it's freak'n stupid. Last year in the finals, it came down to people writing scripts to game the polldaddy results. It wasn't even people voting by the end of it. I'm sure it's good for their traffic, which is why technobuffalo is doing it now (though laptop's even this year looks pretty dead), but it's an equally stupid premise for an event like this. The results mean nothing.
So, that being the case, none of our Mobile Nations sites will blog this stuff up and draw more attention to the stupidity. It's awesome that the community is behind wanting to win. I just jumped over and cast my vote for the cause. But even if we win, it's nothing to be excited about as it's such a flawed way to run a smartphone head to head to begin with. So hopefully those voting at least have a little fun doing so and getting worked up about it. Then it's not totally a waste of time.
Sorry for the harsh but true reality.
Kevin
