Completely agree with thecurryman. This is not about reality. It is about perception. The perception is that BB is behind.
    That's also the reality.

The specs should be better than that, but realistically - even if the specs were better, it really wouldn't make much difference in competing with iOS/Android. What good are great specs and fast speeds when you can't do even 10% of what you can do on other phones because of the embarrassing ecosystem?

I'm going to be a bit of an apologist and say that the specs are perfect for what this phone is meant to deliver - resolution and camera, included.

Screen resolution (PPI) is sufficiently "retina" - Joe Average is not going to notice the difference between A10 and the SGS4 screen. For taking a hit on on-paper resolution specs, A10 should get significantly better battery life than the Z10.

People want a good, feature-rich camera. The Z10 camera meets this standard. When it really comes down to it, people that buy a phone primarily for the camera are getting a high-end Lumia and those who are less in the know get an iPhone.

Dual-core CPU with high clock speed, Quad-core GPU for graphics and gaming horsepower. More than enough guts to ensure A10 delivers a great, buttery smooth BlackBerry 10 experience. OS and software matter more than the latest quad-core CPU, and its where BlackBerry's focus needs to be.

Long story made short, BlackBerry can't deliver top of the top-tier hardware and expect to make a profit at this point. Nokia tried that with the 920, but selling at such a margin is not sustainable. Keep the focus on the user experience, get people talking about the product, price it competitively. A10 will be a great choice for someone looking to get a big screen phone.

If they get good a good marketing campaign going, they can be there by the end of the year. And I am not talking about spending billions on TV advertising like some hear on this forum are talking about. I am talking about image, perception. F1 sponsorship is a good start.

BlackBerry has to get this image of selling hardware and replace it with the idea that they are selling a lifestyle and an experience.

I agree with you completely. I have been critical of their marketing from beginning. Finally have a great product, but people don't know about it, what makes it different, and no buzz was created.

They need to hire outside help. Throwing the name out there is not good marketing. BlackBerry needs to be synonymous with the experience when people hear it, the get it done and have fun phone.

One of the main issues with BlackBerry Java OS was screen fragmentation. BlackBerry has been very clear: all devices will be 720x720 and 720p (except the Z10, which is slightly different).
    BB10 screen is already fragmented.

    Z10 1280x768
    Q10 720x720
    A10 1280x720

BB10 is just out and already has three different screen resolution. Does it mean the app developers should modify all the apps for A10 again? So the dev should support 2 different resolutions? Who knows, may be BBRY will stop supporting Z10 in the future and lets defend them because of the different screen res.

Then don't charge a premium price. Keep it low. Since Its not a high spec mobile phone. Z10 is already on the higher side!

You had me up until here.... I have an Android tablet running Jelly Bean 4.2.2. To call JB 4.2.2 more mature than BB 10.1 is funny to me. .
Whats wrong with Jelly bean 4.2.2? It is one of the most matured OS. I enjoy my Z10 but Android 4.2.2 is far better in feature wise, battery management, data monitoring, app management, customization etc, (no android vs BB10 here). BB10 will reach to that level, but 10.1 is surely not yet up to the mark with JB 4.2.2.

Note2 - the Note 2? That has a quad core 1.6 and a 5.5" display Not sure what you are talking about. Plus a far more mature OS. It is an incredibly capable device. Love my Z-10; sure the A-10 is very nice, but it is no Note 2, and G-d help BB if they try to price it that way.
Quad core my ***. It is a quad core Samsung. Go get the benchmark for it, it sucks. The Z is faster. My Co-worker benchmark his Note 2 and it was pathetic.

I saw the leaked video, thought "ugly!"

From this angle, it looks better, the top looks well proportioned and strongie,
The bottom, however, too overextended, and that aluminium strip is not exactly helping.

BBRY needs thinner engineers, or engineers who appreciate the fineness of svelte metal.
9.4 mm when sony can do 6.5 mm.

I read a lot of people talking about 2012 or 2011 specs for 2013... remember that you are not buying hardware only ! people tend to forget that they are also buying software. I know, better specs makes it more impressive. But 10.2 and future updates is what you are buying

What Planet are you on? Do you think "Blackberry 10.2" will really be Blackberry's marketing push this fall. It is meaningless to anyone who doesn't hang out on Crackberry. Specs sells.

I won't buy A10 with these specs because it's not any different from Z10's.

I spent 650 USD for z10 2 months ago. Don't expect me to spend another 700 USD for A10 with these crappy specs. I only buy a new phone with future in mind.

16GB hard drive? Come on now.

If they price this phone like a Nexus 4...then the specs fit the price. But they won't, because they are BBRY and they just do no seem to get it..

Just imagine a BBRY press conference for this device.. Literally the only thing they can "play up" would be the software... They cannot get on stage, tout this as a flagship device and proceed with 720p....S4 Pro... 299 on contract...

The internet would rip that to shreds... No matter how smooth the software runs on the hardware..
