Anyone else have an issue with BBM killing the Z30 battery ? My battery used to last all day now only 8-9 hours and it is always BBM that is eating up the power. is this normal ?

How much do you use it? Have you added more Groups? Have you added more Channels?

I have one Contact that I send/receive maybe six messages a week, No Groups, No Channels, yet BBM uses more Battery than a number of apps that I use on a daily basis. If it were possible I'd delete it on my Z10 as I'd rather have the extended battery capabilities.

Same problem on my Z10 after la last upgrade. I don't use BBM at all nor do I have an ID, yet at times it is shown as eating more than 50% of battery and can only be fixed by restarting. This is nothing to do with how people use the phone or bad reception, it is a BB problem plain and simple and they should fix it or at least allow BBM to be disabled.

I don't use Facebook, but I do use BBM a bit and don't notice any unusual battery hit at all. Just wondering if there is a connection somewhere between BBM and Facebook talking back and forth in the background or if you configured BBM to upload contacts to the BBM server [therefore always polling your contacts], which I also de selected on initial startup.

Had the same issue last week. Fixed itself. Now it's doing it again today. BBM is definitely the issue. Don't even use it and it uses 50% of the battery power. It's an issue but for some reason they don't fix it. Just about had it with BlackBerry. 17% per hour battery usage without touching the device. Time to switch. Enough is enough

Please if you can post OS Version, Sw Version, and BBM Version if possible? My parent has the same problem with Richo_i on her Z30, OS version 10.2.1.3247 and Sw Release 10.2.1.2977, BBM haven't upgraded since a month ago and waiting to see if fixed it. Carrier is XL in Indonesia. Link to my other post: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe.../#post10657104

There are many threads on this. Seems to happen when you are in a low / no signal area. BBM and PIM services seem to go into a never ending loop and drain the battery.

This happened to me yesterday. I even started a thread. Except my bbm usage was higher like in the 60's. And over 6 hrs not 4 like you. Wow. And reception was strong. Not like what one poster just said. It's definitely not isolated, it's happened to a lot of people. To has been good. 0.01% over 3hrs. Only sent one message today.
