    Battery life Issue-img_00000008.png

I can't say that I'm having spectacular battery life with the Z30. The power consumption is way too high. Not sure what's wrong.

Last night the battery died in 2 hours.

Health of the battery is 95% so it can't be it. Could be a bad app that is misbehaving? Only have Be buzz and battery guru running.

2 days. Could it be still doing stuff in the background?

Could a Z30 owner chime in please?

What's the "Power" value in battery guru while the phone is idle with the screen on?

I'm using a Z30 for almost a week now and I didn't have any problems with battery life.

But I do have a problem with the low in call sound even on max vol it's still low!
I'm wondering if you have the same issue?

Yes I have that problem as well. The sound from the ear piece is really low.

Do you happen to have Battery Guru installed?

The first few days can really strain the battery while the phone is syncing and indexing information. After that, could it just be a case of not being able to put the phone down?

You've obviously tried reseting the device right?

Also, do you have an app manager in the device settings? You should be able to see if any one application is using up all of your juice.

After the device is set up for the first time I've seen my OS using nearly 70% of my cpu (on my z10) and that would drain the battery pretty quickly.

ibimmer, since you've got a Z30, I presume it's pretty new. Often in the first day or two of use the battery consumption will be much higher than expected, mainly because of account synchronization and the resulting traffic and radio use.

Any chance that's all it is?

You can get a hint about this by enabling airplane mode. If the consumption drops back near zero immediately (with the screen off, obviously), then you know it's related to radio/data.

From what I've seen, it's never useful to draw a conclusion based on the first couple of days of use. Last time I had to wipe and reconfigure my Z10, which has worked fine since January 30, I experienced high power consumption immediately after and for a day or so...

Also AfterHoursWelds' suggestion is a good one. Since you've got 10.2, there should be the new app manager in the system settings. It's supposed to be capable of showing you which apps are using significant power in some fashion... (I haven't seen it yet myself.)

Thanks for the speedy replies guys. Such a nice community we got here!

I just came to know that I have app manager. Please have a look at the screen shot. Don't really see any app using the cpu.

Could anyone please take a screen shot of battery guru with the phone being idle?

Because the OS updates the battery readings only once every two minutes, you can get a screenshot of Battery Guru with numbers representing the idle state simply by turning off the screen, leaving the phone alone for just over four minutes (to ensure you get one full reading period with it idle), and then turn the screen back on and immediately take a screenshot.

On that app manager, does it show only memory and CPU? Nothing directly to do with battery? Shame...

    Yeah only cpu and memory.

I need to know the consumption with the screen on and preferably on 3G/4G.

That seems fine, did you restore from a different BlackBerry 10 phone?
Do you have time to do a security wipe and set up again?

But I don't think that's the issue since the cpu seems stable,

    Bad battery maybe??

Battery health is 100%. At least battery guru says so.

I would love to see a screen shot of somebody's Z30 while idle and the screen is on.

If you want to verify the battery, you could do the "drain test" as described on a web page linked under the Diagnostics page in Battery Guru.

Idle power, with the screen on, depends on so many things it's not a useful comparison. The type of screen (Z10's LCD or Q10's AMOLED), ambient brightness, brightness setting, and all the hidden things like radio power and data consumption for your accounts, all affect the power.

It's at least better to check idle power with the screen off, using the technique I mentioned earlier (off, wait for 4 minutes, then back on and check latest readings immediately). Even that still includes the radio/data activity though, so you'd want Airplane mode enabled to eliminate those as possible causes (or to prove they're involved).

My screen-on idle power right now is -0.59W but as I said that doesn't really help you. My room is dim and I have a Z10, which is a very different screen than the Z30.

it's definitely syncing things in the background. it could be syncing your dropbox, box or with link.

try doing a hard reset. "hold the volume up and down until the blue loading square appears" or turn off syncing on link, dropbox and/or box.

I just got my Z30 today. I will be updating the software to 10.2.0.1767 immediately because I have good battery life experience with it on the Z10 and Q10.

I tend to screen on idle between -0.1 to -0.2 I'll post some screen shots later.

Did you do a restore from another blackberry device?

Have you sideloaded anything and/or running android ported apps? Use task manager on app world to kill android apps running in the background.
