I just got my Z30 today. I will be updating the software to 10.2.0.1767 immediately because I have good battery life experience with it on the Z10 and Q10.

I tend to screen on idle between -0.1 to -0.2 I'll post some screen shots later.

Did you do a restore from another blackberry device?

Have you sideloaded anything and/or running android ported apps? Use task manager on app world to kill android apps running in the background.

    Q10-Z10-iP5
Wow. -0.1 or 0.2 with the screen on. Wondering what's consuming all the power in my Z30 to have -1.

I haven't restored anything. Set it up as a new device. Did side load Google maps though. That's it.

Yeah my idle on my z10 is sometimes. 01 watts / near zero, there is definitely something going wrong.

If you can try turning off the 4G lte, it could be that you are in a poor area for coverage and it is killing the battery to connect.

Also there are account settings for Facebook and Twitter email etc, where you can limit how often they sync (which can cause battery drain too).

But 1 watt is excessive, my z10 will use 1.2 watts in use...

Well, just tested with screen off and airplane mode on. Consumption was 0.2 and once was 0.4. Something fishy is going on.

Might load the latest leak today.

Yes I have that problem as well. The sound from the ear piece is really low.
I've heard that from quite a few owners now. The sound volume on the phone is too low.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wouldn't say it's warm, but it's definitely not cold.

All my apps are up to date btw.

That would be recommend. Let us know how it goes. 1w consumption is pretty bad. FYI I run all my devices on 3G to increase batt life. I find reducing screen brightness and turning off certain things life auto time update etc. Helps.

This is almost certainly evidence of something seriously wrong. Under those conditions, and if you really waited >= 4 minutes before swiping back on and immediately checking the readings, either of those values is well above what the consumption should be.

Next thing to try is leaving it (as you probably already have) for a longer period with airplane mode enabled and with screen off. Battery Guru running... collecting data. Then turn it back on and use the Records page to export the data to a CSV file and examine that on your PC, to look at the longer term power consumption. If you need help, email me the file and I'll summarize what I see there for you. You can use the email address in the app's Help menu to get it to me.

Generally for an idle device with radios off, the consumption should be closer to 0.05W, and although I haven't touched a Z30 yet, I would expect it's in line with all the other QNX-based products BlackBerry has shipped, including the PlayBook, with consumption no higher than that on average.

It's possible you merely got a couple of statistically unlikely readings that don't reflect your average consumption under those conditions, but I doubt it...

Well, I've been monitoring my Q10 and it seems to idle at 0.6 with the screen on.

Not sure how you guys are getting 0.1 with the Z30.

Could you please keep the screen on long enough while monitoring the power consumption? Thanks!

I've had my Z30 for 10 days now, My battery lasts for ages, I'm on it constantly with varied use. Youtube, BBM, Emails, Downloads, photos and videos. Perhaps you have an app that needs shutting down after use?

Thanks for the screen shots. Those readings are definitely not with the screen on (you have to wait for 4 minutes with screen on and then take the reading, not immediately after waking up).

I'm thinking the battery drain is due to the carrier's network you are on... When I first got my Z10 on Verizon the battery drain was horrendous because of the LTE.. It was eating up my battery quick.. The problem got fixed with an update though. Now my battery life is awesome! I would recommend installing the latest 10.2 leak.

You should adjust the settings. Go to the phone icon like you are making a call, swipe down from the top/settings/call audio and select "Treble Boost." Might help you hear better..

With screen on 100% brightness, Battery Guru set to Keep-Awake , Wifi off, 4g at 3/5 bars and no other apps running, the draw on my Z30 is 0.75W. With data turned off and the wifi on at excellent reception and the rest the same, the draw is slightly less at 0.72. Temp in both cases is 26C/79F. I get between 24 and 36 hours out of my phone with medium use, and leaving the phone on overnight (but not with keep-awake). My phone is an STA100-2 running the 10.2.0.1767 leak. Hope that helps. If there is any other measurement you'd like me to do, please let me know. BTW I upgraded from a Z10 and I am delighted with the Z30 in all respects. The only irritation is the change in screen aspect does cause the screen on some apps to be cropped on the right side. (Including CB10!)

Also checked with the screen off and I am getting 0.09W

Comparing to my Z10, my new Z30 consume much more energy. I turned off my WIFI and Bluetooth & NFC, yet I am only getting like 9 -10 hours. I don't really have many application installed. I use more for emails, BBM and Whatsapp.

I guess I probably using it for software download and some testing that causes this. Let's see if it gets better once the usage become normal.

I do have the same voice call speaker problem with some of you. its really soft even i have turn the volume to the max.
