Just purchased a second Z30 as a backup to the one I use now.
Questions for anyone who's has purchased a backup phone (any model)

Do you keep it in the box until it is needed?

Swap sim card and install a backup through BlackBerry Link? This tests the new phone and your backup. Is there a downside to this.

    Alternate between phones?

    All suggestions welcome.

I'd, at least, fire it up and check it out. Sensors, pixels, etc. Run BBVE.

Depending on the OS you now have, you might want to mirror it so that it is ready. Remember that BBLink can have issues - it will not restore a backup made with a newer OS on a unit with an OLDER OS.

At least, that's my thoughts. Someone suggested charging the battery, depleting it somewhat and then removing it. I'd wait to hear others thoughts on that. I am working this out with my "backup" Z10 for the Z30????

Hi I just ordered z Z30 from crackberry Canada for $250 and I'm wondering if I will be able to insert my nano sim from my Passport or will I have to use a micro sim? Ideally I'd like to be able to alternate between my Passport and my Z30 whenever I want.

CAUTION possible. I have read too many stories of folks using sim card adapters and ruining the sim card slot - something gets caught. Don't know if it applies to the sim cards you are referencing.

I've read that too and I would not even try an adapter. I was really wanting to know if the sim cards were the same size in the Passport and Z30. If not I'll just my sim from my Q10. Thank you for replying

Passports uses nano sim. Z30 uses micro sim as does the Z10 and Q10.
