    I would say the Z10 looks and feels nicer. I'm starting to enjoy it more than my Q and I'm a die hard keyboard guy.

    I was impressed with the size and screen real estate, but so much the screen itself. The Z10 was brighter and more colourful Imo. Not sure if they are using different types for each device.

    I'm excited for the A10 because it serves a segment but it's not for me. It's too big to be mobile and it's too small to replace my precious playbook and it's freaking awesome convertible case that if they make another playbook and don't sell a convertible case like the original, I will ubermad. Dev devices have 1/2 the ram.

    It's a windows limitations the 4g thing, other os can go much further.

    I certainly wouldn't bugs in my lab, trying to kill a fly at my house.
    I think things that grow on trees, should remain at the super-market.
    It's the robot olympics.

    You are wrong on the Windows thing I believe. If you take 2 to the 32nd power you will see the total addressable memory value for a 32-bit OS, Windows or other. It is 4GB.

    It is also total addressable, which is why 32-bit Windows often reported more like 3 gigs of RAM. It had to account for total memory, including graphics and others.

    So 4 gigs should be the maximum. I am not sure why people seem so focused on 4 gigs for the A10. There are so many other things I want to see that rank way higher, and the Z10 doesn't run out of memory to my knowledge. Never seem a Z10 get slow!

    I've heard two possible screen sizes from 5 different sources, either 4.6" or 4.7".
    I'd be happy with either.

    The 4GB limit refers to total addressable memory space and not just the RAM installed. It's a total made up of system RAM, graphics RAM, PCI memory range, ACPIand a few other bits and pieces. And if you think that your system RAM is the only significant factor, think again. You can buy graphics cards fitted with 1GB of RAM, and if you wanted (and had the spare cash!) you could fit three of these intoa system. There's not a 1 to 1 relationship between graphics memeory consuming system RAM, but the larger the memory, the more the card sets aside for itself. Now that 4GB limit doesn't leave you a lot of space for system RAM.

    Here's the math for 32-bit systems:

    232 = 4,294,967,296 bytes 4,294,967,296 / (1,024 x 1,024) = 4,096 MB = 4GB

    It's different for 64-bit:

    264 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 / (1,024 x 1,024) = 16EB (exabytes)

    Example: On systems fitted with 4GB of RAM and a modest graphics card with 512MB of on-board memory the end user normally sees about 3GB of installed system RAM. So what this means is that the realistic upper RAM limit for a 32-bit OS is more like 3GB.

    In non-PAE modes of x86 processors, the RAM is always limited to 4GB.

    Limits on memory and address space vary by platform and operating system, and on Windows by whether the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE value of the LOADED_IMAGE structure and 4-gigabyte tuning (4GT) are in use.

    Limits on physical memory for 32-bit platforms also depend on the Physical Address Extension (PAE), which allows 32-bit systems to use more than 4GB of physical memory.

    PAE and 64-bit systems can address up to the full address space of the x86 processor.

    That picture looks nothing like the device I saw. Think bigger z10 with pinholes in the front, steel around the sides and a glass weave casing. The steel didn't loom great, but things always change from the dev device.

    Yes, 2GB confirmed but you never know, they could put a 4 in there. Although it seems like it used the 2GB pretty effectively.

    Prototype z10 that I played with were 1GB, but production z10 is 2gb, so it's quite possible that will be 4gb in prod version.

    I believe craiggger story. I mean why make it up? Also these devices are definitely being used by select employees. They have to be tested as a daily device. They don't just design phones and not test them.

    And since craigggers did confirm that it had a letter or number on the bottom of the device, then it is a dev model so it's possible that the final version may still get the 4gb of ram that is rumored even tho this dev only had 2 gb.

    Agreed!! Besides, it's good for business. Do you know how much money is being saved vs. spent on marketing when these leaks are released. It's a genius plan. Using social media and blogs to work for you for little to nothing.

    People asking about 4GB of RAM: is this even possible (or advisable) on BB10 considering that (in my understanding) it is a 32bit OS?

    I know it 'can' be done, but maybe the changes needed in the OS to allow indexing of the extra RAM aren't warrented at this time (and they will stick to 2GB until they go to a 64bit processor)?

    Depending on what departments they work in, there are probably a reasonable amount of people that work for BB that first learn about new models from sites like this one.

    Astro is another name used in the A-series lineup like the Aristo,so Craigger is probably not wrong.

    Plus their beta program signup for the A-series has been up for a few months(since Jan?), not surprising that the prototypes are out.

    And to the topic about using the phone as a daily driver, one of their requirements for being a beta tester is to use the prototype as their primary phone and report all bugs that they encounter.
    Beta program signup? Where do I signup?
