Sounds niceeeee

This is basically totally rumor as there is no source for the info given on the gadget masters page that is the source for tour article.
It'd be nice if the specs turned out to be true, but I'd heard they're going to do a 5 inch screen instead.

That and the fact that they would be putting out yet another screen resolution. One of the things BBRY is trying to avoid is fragmentation of their devices. That's one of the major factors that made developers abandon ship in the first place.

That is a really good looking device. Both inside and out.

I hope it's not a phablet. A tablet is ookay just not a phablet. Don't want a phone that big of a size. Lol

I want it.

Don't think we're going to see 1080p screen resolution in 2013.
According BlackBerry Developer's Website
Designing for different screen sizes - BlackBerry DeveloperThe screen size for the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone (the first BlackBerry 10 touch device) is 768 x 1280 pixels. However, future BlackBerry smartphones will have the following screen sizes:
All-touch smartphones: 720 x 1280 pixels (16:9 aspect ratio)
Smartphones with a physical keyboard: 720 x 720 pixels (1:1 aspect ratio)
Those would be hot specs. IMO launching a flagship without a 1080p screen would be a mistake.
Yes it would be harder for developers, but not by much. Android already has 1080p and it wouldn't make that big of a deal supporting it.
Android's fragmentation is horrible. But having 720p and 1080p. And also the 720 by 720p screens isn't that bad.
Yeah the 720p screen looks very crisp to me, I guess it has to do with it being an lcd as well, amoled just looks fake to me.
Z10? Why yes it is.
BB, Pls make it....as it's the only thing that would make me get rid of my Z10! A better, faster, Blackberry is always nice!
C'mon, I double-dog-dare you to make!
Wow oh wow! I don't want a phablet... i dont... well heck, maybe I do :)

I know they want to make developers happy, but please don't launch this with a 720p screen...
Something wrong with 720p? On something that small you can't even see the extra lines if resolution. It's a marketing gimmick

You say that but every review I see compares 720p screen to that of 1080p and says the 1080p is clearer. I personally don't know as I havent even owned a 720p device. I just don't want them giving people a reason to dismiss this device
Go look at the HTC One and the S3 side by side and tell me you don't see a difference ;)
^^^^. What they said lol
Those specs are wrong. At least from what I know.

I don't see how BBRY could release a high-end phone and make it 720p at this point as the competition is all 1080p. ^_^
If the screen looks great who cares if it is 720 or 1080. I am pretty sure it looks great. Plus less pixels allows better performance for gaming.

Who cares? Let's not make excuses. A flagship should have top hardware from this year not last year
If your HDTV looks great from 8 feet away, who cares if it's 480P, 1080P, or 4K.
Not if it has significant disadvantages, and very few advantages.
The higher resolution is completely wasted. At Retina resolution (1136*640) or 720p on a cellphone screen, you're already past the point where your can differentiate an individual pixel, on the viewing distances we're talking about.
Increasing the resolution to 1920*1080 therefore won't have any practical effects or benefits.
And the downside is vastly increased power consumption and significantly reduced battery life: not only does the screen have a much higher power draw, you also need to put a much more powerful GPU in there to push all those extra pixels (extra pixels YOU CAN'T SEE, mind you!) on to the screen.
The more powerful GPU also uses much more power, even in situations that normally require little power from the CPU/GPU. Basic UI stuff, really.
The end result is like on many Android phones: Despite a huge 2400-2800mw battery, the phone barely gets 4 hours of active usage, and most users will be running out of battery around 4 in the afternoon.
This, combined with the problems of fragmentation, is too high of a price to pay without getting any real benefits for the user.
Oh, and BTW: The article in the top post talking about the Aristo is nonsense. A 4.65 inch screen isn't a phablet, it's just a regular phone screen size these days.
I will be unhappy if it does not match the resolutions quoted by Alec... Again...
Mostly because then I need to rework apps. And I hate redoing work. It stops me from doing feature and actual app improvements

I have to disagree.
It's not only about being able to see individual pixels but also about the amount of content that fits the screen. I for one refuse to buy any laptop with less than 1080p. Not because I am concerned about visibility of individual pixels, but because I get so much more on my screen while browsing the web for example. Same with phones. Just pick a 5" screen with 1080p resolution and check it for yourself.
As I alluded before, if seeing individual pixels was the only concern, people would not go with full HD monitors or HDTVs and would be quite content with 480p.
As for power consumption, the latest gen GPUs handle 1080 with ease. Plus, my S4 runs for at least two full days with moderate use. Much longer than the Z10 I had for a couple of weeks. Even longer than the iPhone 5 I had for a few months.
