I thought there was a signal booster in the Z30?

Doesn't seem to be. My phone still lacks consistent network connection at work.

Is there a settings feature I am overlooking?

    Tell me al about it.

    Thanks!

The Z30 features a Paratek antenna that penetrates through walls and basement areas. But if you're not near a tower, that's not the phones fault, that's between you and your carrier.

Strange thing is I am on TMO while the other 2 in my area are on Sprint.

They cannot get signal, but I always could on my Z10, but it bounced around a lot.

It does the same on the Z30.

I was just curious how the boost worked.

I don't believe it's a boost as it's more along the lines of 2 antennas. One along the top,and the other along the bottom, giving you a better area to pick up a signal. I could be wrong , just something I read on here before.

Ok. Maybe not quite that amazing ;-)

Paratek was acquired by BlackBerry some years back.
They specializes in adaptive antenna technologies. As far as i understand it is "the art of electrically optimizing the antenna for optimal performance in a given environment. "

The result should be either better reception or lower the battery usage.

Right, the antennae gets you better reception and or lowers battery usage from trying to find reception because of the ability to penetrate through walls and certain areas. Duh.

Whatever it is, it's definitely not some gimmicky feature. I've got the Z30, Z10 and Q10, and in the parking structure at work where my Z10 and Q10 would be Searching.... for signal or have like 2 bars of Edge coverage, my Z30 has nearly full bars of 4G LTE.

I found that my Z30 didn't necessarily show more bars for signal, but the better reception showed up in more subtle ways. Like in the auditorium of my kid's school where all my previous phones struggled to even get a 3G signal, or when driving through mountainous areas when my Z30 consistently kept gps signal when my girlfriend's GS3 would not. I've had several such experiences where the number of signal bars weren't impressive, but I did indeed keep a 4G signal.
