At times when opening an app it can take several minutes to load. Sometimes, I just close out the app an reload but it can still take awhile. Any ideas/solutions on how to speed it up?

What OS version are you running? Since the 10.2.1's my Android apps have been running very well. And they're even better on the 10.3.0 and 10.3.1 leaks. You may want to consider one of those. If you do, be very careful not to restore the "BlackBerry runtime" after an upgrade! This results in the runtime being mismatched with your OS version and a cause of poor running of Android apps.

I'm running 10.2.1.2991 seems like they have gotten slower over time, or maybe I didn't notice at 1st but now it's definitely noticeable.

Get 10.3.0.14xx It's the most stable 10.3 and android apps should work a lot better.. or if you're adventurous get on 10.3.1 but app compatibility seems varying on that.. some apps don't work for example but the ones that do work, work as good as native..

Very true. 10.3.0.1418 on my Passport is great for Android apps -- all mine are working great. My Z10 on 10.3.1.938 runs most very well, but a couple are no-go.

Huge difference in how android apps are handled from 10.2.1 to 10.3.0.1418 on my Z10, then when I got the extra horse power from my Z30 android apps were sooooooo much smoother.

Songza for example, on the Z10 it was painful to use but on my Z30 is super smooth and the transition between screens is much faster, making the app a joy to use.

    Look! It's Zedzilla 30! ?

I'm on version 10.3.3.1435 and Android apps run incredibly poorly it's just disgraceful, I'm not convinced the OS version is the dealbreaker here

Did you update from 10.3.2 to 10.3.3 via OTA or autoloader? The latter has a far higher success rate.

There should be no appreciable differences in Android app performance on any recent OS. That's why I think something may have happened during the update process.

I always update OTA, I didn't even know there were other methods

Try a clean autoloader and install it from scratch (don't restore backup since it can restore bugs too). The best method to keep the phone clean and smooth. After you set it all up you can backup your phone

    What device?

And honestly, android apps are just going to run slow no matter what. The runtime is stuck at 4.3, the hardware is stuck at 3-year-old or older (depending on the device), and nothing will change that.

An autoloader may help some, but not much.

I don't know what a clean autoloader is, will it reset and erase the phone with all its data and apps?
I'm glad someone admitted that Android apps will never run properly on this thing (Passport), I read tons of threads saying this, yet on this thread everyone praising how well Android apps run on their devices, weird.

Yes, an autoloader will wipe the device, but you can use Ultimate Backup first for your critical data.

Many, many Android apps run quite well actually, so don't be discouraged.

An autoloader is like a fresh Windows install on the PC, and cleans up most of the problems.

Admittedly, my experience was with a Z10. The Passport has a better processor, so apps will run generally better. Of course, it does depend on the app.

Hi, this ultimate backup is the one priced at around four bucks which I see in the BB world? Reviews are quite good. By critical data you mean all accounts with their password, contacts, apps... well, everything except the media?
And about the autoloader where can I be sure to install the correct one?
I'm eyeing the Keyone but I still fancy my Passport and if I can use the Android apps in a decent way I'd rather keep it.
