This is a pain and disappointing. I had to use my z30 as a wifi hotspot for my android tablet which was nice from the larger form factor. I don't know what the issue is... it plays the commercials and then a black screen plays. We should not have to live with these little indignities, BlackBerry needs to fix once and for all. they should push a quick update if necessary, this is the world's largest sporting event!

I believe it's because it's streaming in windows player format. I tried it on my computer and a pop up for Windows player to allow. I believe our browsers doesn't support it and that's why it doesn't work. The ads are in flash which is why it works there. Download the Cbc fifa app from snap it will work there. Been watching it on my TV with my phone plugged in the hdmi port.

Edit: I almost forgot seems 10.2.1 doesn't work even with the Cbc fifa app, but it works well with 10.3.296 or higher android player.

CBC FIFA app does the same thing as the browser for me. This is strange. I just wanted to watch some match highlights.

EDIT: In the browser some videos are displayed in articles that use a different Web player than the highlights and live games. I can watch those videos perfectly fine.

Funny, this is exactly why I got rid of my Z30. No support for streaming the world cup means I'm not interested in the phone. I'll be back once the festivities are done but for now I'm all Android.

It's obviously something the broadcaster has specifically chosen to do rather than a limitation in the phone. As indicated above, here in the UK watching the matches on either BBC or ITV is as easy as either using the browser or using the Android apps - whatever is preferred.

I bring my iPad to work on the train now to catch the live matches. Convenient? No, but it's a working solution. I was initially a bit frustrated and upset, but I'm not going to dump a phone I otherwise like quite a bit for an event that's over in two weeks.

But CBC or BlackBerry really should have patched it. It's a huge global event.

I'd try an app like Mobdro as a work around. Not sure if it has CBC on it, but there's plenty of World Cup options.

I tweeted someone at BlackBerry and linked them to this thread. Their advice was to try finding a site that streams the matches in HTML5 video.

So I guess whatever streaming technology is used on the CBC site and Android app is not supported on 10.2.1, but does appear to work on the 10.3 leaks.

Isn't there flash support in the browser? Go to setting, display and actions and enable Adobe Flash there

I think the CBC video requires a higher version of flash, Adobe stopped supporting mobile flash and BB is stuck at 11 and the current desktop one is at 14. However, if you need to watch the game on your BB10 then google streaming sites like vipbox, their video still works very well (beware of ads, lots of them) or install 10.3.

Then why does the Android app do the same thing? That part confuses me.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. Why the Android apps doesn't work on 10.2.1? I'm not sure myself, but I know that it does work on 10.3, tested it on my Q5 that has the leaked 10.3 OS.

Okay I'll be specific even though it has been mentioned. On 10.2.1 the Android app works but the videos do the same thing the website does on the stock browser. The ads work and the video or live feed is just a blank screen. Maybe it is working on 10.3, but I put 10.3 on my Q10 which is not my daily driver.

I can confirm it works on 10.3. I also have it on my Q5 which is not my daily driver, good way to catch the game on the go.

Yeah I confirmed it on my Q10 as well. The first thing I noticed was the play button in the middle of the screen. It also only played one ad before showing me the video. So weird.
