SD card invokes battery drain? Where did you read that? I recently went from a 32 to 64gb sd cardin my Z30. I loaded it up with music and forms. No difference in battery life in my case.
I think he meant that he/she will be using the phone more to watch movies or listen to music.

Anyway, would be real interested in the newegg.com deal. Especially when word on the street was that the SanDisk card would only be available at Best buy and Amazon.

    None the less...here's my findings.

Card is in the ExFat format right out of the box. I also received an error when inserting the card into the phone. When going to the storage settings I was not able to reformat the card while it was in the phone. Even though the posts here on CB state that the format has been supported since 10.2.

So here's what I did. I formatted the card to FAT32, popped the card in and it works. My media card now has about 119GB of available storage.

    Goodie gum drops...

Check out the attached screenshot for confirmation. Now it's time to transfer content.

Thanks for sharing! It's good to know we have a chance of the 128GB card working right away.

The only downside I see is the amount of time it takes to copy 100+ GB of data to the device. I encrypt my cards so it's either WiFi through Link or USB. :-(

I received my 128 from Amazon today, shut my phone off (Z10 w/10.2.1.2228) it chocked, told the phone to format the card, and it wouldnt even touch it, so I looked at my 64G card and saw it was a FAT32 format, so put the 128 in the computer and it is 60% done formatting it to FAT32.

I read an article that said this SD Card would work in a BlackBerry. Thanks for clarifying.

I was looking at SD cards at best buy a few weeks ago and a sales guy started to talk to me. I said I was just checking on size and price. For my phone and camera. Could not understand why I would want more than 16G. Suggested I use cloud storage if I needed more.

That sales person was clearly an i.d.i.o.t...
    And didn't even know it.

I guess one of the disadvantages of FAT32 is the 4GB maximum file size so no 1080p Blu-ray movies
Given the 720p display we have on this device, that shouldn't be a huge issue, unless you are screen mirroring I suppose.

keep in mind that with the 128G card you will need to reformat to FAT32, the HP utility is the only one i found that would allow me to format it as FAT32

That is incredibly huge of GB, I think I'm good with 32 or 64. My Q10 is awesome on battery life on my daily medium use under 10.2 version. But its good know, thanks for sharing..

I used fat32format.exe to format my external 128 GB SS SanDisk and it worked OK using OTG. I extracted the file from here to C:\

FYI, if you don't have the HP utility to format a SD card > 32GB.

From what I've read. SDXC could support up to 2 TB. so my guess if they release a 256 GB microSD card our devices should be able to support it also

FYI, guys the more and bigger SD cards require more juice from your battery and causes your battery to heat more than normal. So don't blame blackberry for this.

I can officially say that the 128GB Sandisk MicroSD card works like a charm!

It took me a little while to find a format utility that would allow me to get such a large card to go into Fat32, but after montyl's post, I was able to get it working. Thanks for the help!

Since the original post there has been updates to the BB10 OS regarding exFat.
I have a 128 GB Sandisk which I formatted with the Z30 as exFat.
It works just fine in the phone.
There is a small issue with windows explorer reading the exFat format when connected to the phone by USB but this can be overcome by turning on USB Mass Storage, which of course turns off your access to the "Device" memory.

If you are worried about data transfer speed to and from the card just get a USB 3.0 or better USB 3.1 card reader.

I've got a 128gb card for my Surface tablet.
I just put it into my Z30 and it says "Media card problem detected. Goto Storage Settings to resolve."
I would have to format the card in the phone for it to work, but I have data on their. So I can't fully test.

I got this from newegg.com for $49 about a month ago.

My experience with a similar card has been that it needs to be formatted by the phone, or else it won't be recognized.

I tried putting the SD card into my laptop and copying the contents over to it, and even after formatting on the phone the card wouldn't be recognized after the file copy.

The card DOES work in the phone, though, and if I SLOOOOWLY copy everything over USB to the phone it's all good.

I had problems trying to use my SanDisk 128 Gb micro SDXC card with the early builds of 10.3. However, the latest build, 10.3.0.1154 runs it like a champ in my Z10. Let the phone format the card. It will format it exFat. It takes quite a bit of time to scan the card the first time if you have large amounts of files stored on the card. Once the initial scan is completed, maybe 10 to 15 minutes, you are good to go. After letting the card format in the phone, I took it out, put it in my computer with my older 64 GB card and had my computer copy over all files. Then I put the card back into the phone and let it scan the card. Definately takes some time but well worth it.
