Couldn't Blackberry just put a 1080p capable screen on the A10 and have it run the 720p OS until its ready to go 1080p?

I don't *think* the OS can be 1080/720 p like you get 32 bit or 64 bit computer OSs. It would be more of a hardware setting rather than software.

Well yes, you can do that. But problem is things will look blurry. Happens with Windows Phone 8 devices that have an HD screen and run apps originally made for WP7's WVGA resolution.

the screen wold look worse than just 720p. Don't be surprised if the A10 ends up shipping with 1080p.

They would need to support icons for both resolutions being able to scale lower res icons up

Text should look better and be a non issue.

Games would benefit but might need up scaling to 1080.

Thing is, this is all do able.

At worse you wouldn't see a difference unless looking very closely. People with perfect vision(20/12 not 20/20) would see a difference along with most people that occasionally have the phone closer than 9 or so inches away.

i would they have to make the icon sizes scaleable, does your windows PC scale the icons for different resolutiions? answer is no, the icons are a set pixel size, when the resolution is increased the icons will look smaller to the eye, and wit hthe example for a windows desktop you can add more to the desktop or have a longer menu list before you are forced to scroll.

everything stays the same but things just shift around like in the case of leaked videos and images of extra rows of icons, more fit in the same area but things also appear smaller, just like the text does in the image in the "A10 hub thread" which you can choose to increase if you so choose

No, with icons you would upscale them so the target size for your finger doesn't change

The leaked video is of a larger physical screen. I'm sure bbry is investigating more rows.
