Z30 by far. Higher screen resolution (1280x720 vs 960x540), more RAM (2 GB vs 1.5 GB), more storage space (16GB vs 8GB), LTE, NFC, HDMI, faster processor...

The main difference is the price. The z30 is not the super-device that people around here will lead you to believe. It's actually quite low-spec.

It's the BlackBerry with the best specs. Despite that, it holds its own against other "high spec" devices. The only thing reviewers have to complain about is the 720p screen and BlackBerry World (which is a BlackBerry 10 wide issue and is being adressed with the Amazon deal and has its workarounds with the likes of Snap and 1Mobile, although the workarounds aren't for everyone). And in answer to OP comparing it with the Z3, the Z30 is quite high-spec.

Let me guess you don't have one. A Z30 that is. It's only the best BlackBerry to date

Highest spec BlackBerry. True. But when compared to the rest of the phone universe it's an aging, low spec device. The Asus zenphone 5 which is 199 has better specs that that, and yes, it has 2gb ram too.

Heck, the 189 Redmi note with an octa core processor, 2gb ram, 3100mah battery, 5.5" screen and 13mp camera smokes the Z30.

Usb OTG, wifi direct, all the usual refinements included.

But we're saying it is the highest now, because he's talking about BlackBerry phones and to be specific the BlackBerry 10 touch screen devices. That's why we're talking about a high spec device

The op asked, what's the difference between the z30 and z3.

    My answer was essentially

Who gives a flying f. They both suck given what's available elsewhere in the same market segment

If specs were everything, then yeah, they would suck. However, put the Z30 against other (what you would call high spec devices) flagships in real life situations, the Z30 will prove to be a real contender to deal with.

Spec wars are daft except as comparisons within the same operating system. A few are absolute, like the screen quality, but others depend on what is necessary for that OS. Just looking at the processor is as silly as believing a 10 litre truck engine is better than a 2 litre sports car one. It's all about context.

Precisely. Which is why screen, camera, battery life and build quality are so important. But once you determine which is better in terms of those "specs", you need to see how it performs OS wise.

Most people look at price range. Ok, I can spend 250 bucks. What are my options under 250?
