Hi guys, I'm really looking forward to Z3. I know, it is yet to be launched. but excitement is at its peak. I am a die hard fan of blackberry. I have been a proud owner of BB 9900 for a long time, then gave it away to my brother and got a Z10 for myself. And I tell you what, I really fell in love with it. But over time, I realized that the screen is a bit small to my liking. Hence, looking for a phone with a bigger screen size. I can't look beyond blackberry, and came across Z3. Must say, very impressed with the features (not all the features have been made public). My only concern is, how efficiently will it run android apps ? It has a slower CPU compared to Z10. Z10's 1.5 Ghz dual core vs Z3's 1.2 Ghz dual core. I'm afraid, it won't run android apps smoothly. RAM is not an issue, but the CPU is.... And yes, I'm not a techie. Hope, I'm wrong. Thanks!!!!!

even the Galaxy S2 (which was 1.2Ghz dual core) ran games pretty well.....I played Need for Speed Most Wanted on the S2 and it ran fine....loading times were a bit longer than the Note II but still it played it pretty well....plus, i'm sure newer processors will have better performance...

Z3 contains the Adreno 305 vs Z10s 225. This means it will perform on games as good or better than the Z10.

If you want a quality phone that can run android apps the best and still be a BlackBerry get a Z30.

That I know, Z30 is the best. But I don't wanna spend that much amount. Hence, enquiring about Z3.

Thanks.. Let's suppose, it will run games more smoothly compared to Z10. But what about android apps ? Still unsure.

Well Z3 looks to be superior to the Z10 in some ways. Bigger battery but resolution is lower.(if leaks are true) don't worry about performance. The cpu isn't that bad and the gpu is superior.

Depends which you mean. May as well try it and return if you don't like it.

Thanks, but Galaxy S2 is native android, so the same CPU will give you better performance on S2. Because on S2, android OS is perfectly optimized..

That is up to you to compare. I don't own a Galaxy S2. Touchwiz is absolutely not optimized. And no it doesn't mean that it will run faster on the S2.

I've only done direct comparison between my Z30 and a friend's S4 but there was no discernible difference in running Android applications such as Google Maps, as an example.

The Z10 doesn't run games smoothly? I've never had an issue I can think of. My bigger problem is the limited space of 16 GB vs. the performance of the GPU to play the typical game.

I agree. I haven't had issues while playing games on my Z10. It handles everything great. Especially since I got the TMO 10.2.1 update.

Everything? maybe flappy birds clones. Try Real Racing 3 for example. Runs great NOT.

What? Real Racing 3 runs smoothly on my Z10.

Either way it'll depend on what that Android app wants to do. You might notice a little extra delay here and there if it's heavy on the CPU. The GPU shouldn't be a problem though.

Overall it looks like a nice offering for people who can't afford the Z30.

I got the game from BBW, which seems to be an android port, and yes, the game experience is awful. In game, not smooth at all.

What model you've got? Do you have the -1 with PoverVR GPU?

I have the stl 100-2 one.

Honestly you shouldn't have to worry about that. The android runtime is a core element of the OS. I'm sure Android apps will run relatively well, probably not too noticeable from the Z10 or Q10.

Long story short, no need to worry here.

I think the idea that the Stl 100-1 OMAP is faster than the S4-based STL 100-2,3,4 at gaming (due to its PowerVR gpu) is actually incorrect.

The OMAP 4470 has a single-core GPU, whilst the Snapdragon S4's is dual core. The speed per core is outweighed by the number of cores in this instance, making the S4 STL-100s faster.

I had a Nook HD+ which shared the same OMAP chip - Real Racing 3 was nowhere near as fast as on my Z10 (STL 100-2).
