So my Z30 fell from my lap getting out of a vehicle today and its got a small chip in the upper left corner and I can't bear to continue using this phone. Thinking about selling this and Droid Razr M I have. Would going from the Z30 to a Z10 be a downgrade?

Put the hardware specs of the Z10 side by side with the Z30 and you'll be able to tell very quickly if it's a downgrade. The OS is the same.

Specs wise Z30 is better, sure. But the OS is pretty much the same thing. Smaller screen obviously, sound is better on the Z30 but you're getting a great device with the Z10. Been using mine for almost 9 months and I love it. So take my option for what it's worth.

And a dent makes your phone unbearable? Commmooonnnn just use it if it's working fine.

It is a downgrade, but it's also your choice. I'd say check etradesupply.com for an housing, I got one for the z10 for 39.99

I have a z10 and yes that would be a downgrade.
Let me tell you exactly why: Much shorter battery life, worse antenna, no natural sound, less powerful processor/graphics chip, smaller screen(could be a pro).

I loved my Z10, but the Z30 is considerably better. I'm noticed for instance the Z30 has a much faster response with using the keyboard. This is an important feature for me, and I love typing fast without having to type fast if you know what I mean. Both offer this magical keyboard, but I am saying you will get a faster response from the Z30. I also love the feel of the extra space for text, and the size of the screen is much more pleasant to look at (imo). Oh yeah, and the Sound! Wow! The SOUND! GREAT sound! Loving the sound! Great antenna too. Phone is important. Compared it to a colleague at work recently. The Z30 offered two network bars, to her none from the same location (hers was a Galaxy 3). Yes, I would stick with the Z30, or just get another Z30 if you can't deal with the body imperfection from the chip. This is my advise. They are both great phones though, and I'm sure you will enjoy either one. Just saying...

I think the z30 is poorly designed. It's ugly. It's essentially a z10 with a larger screen. The gpu upgrade does nothing for me, as I don't use my phone as a "gaming device", I have my gaming pc and my 3ds for that.

The extra 200 mhz doesn't matter. The cpu is underpowered for the target audience.

Yes, it's essentially a Z10 with a larger screen. And notably faster CPU. And notably faster GPU. And better battery. And better external speakers. And better wireless reception. But if those things don't matter to you then by all means stick with the Z10. It's a great device in its own right.

Z10 will be a upgrade if you like smaller phones that are easier to carry in your pocket and to use 1 handed, it also has removable battery. the Z30 is better in pretty much else... bigger screen, better screen quality, better sound, faster processor, more modern, better batery life, etc.
