So I have the Torch 9860 and have been looking at getting a new BB10 phone. Unfortunately after the 9860, I hate the idea of typing on a screen due to the cold and lack of tactile feel and had wanted to go back to a physical QWERTY keyboard. Then I saw the Q10 and figured thats pretty cheap looking so now if I want to get a new BB in August as I planned it would likely be the Z10 but I have a question for you current owners out there, especially those of you in the colder regions, does the touchscreen work in the cold?

Right now my 9860 doesn't recognize my fingers when its cold and I was wondering if the new phone has been able to fix that issue. Otherwise I may be SOL or having to get a 9900.

define cold. I haven't had any issues with mine. The touch experience is much different then the 9860 (I have both) touch works much better on the z10 then the 9860. I have used mine in about -10C with no problems. Hope this helps

I am in Toronto, I would say we haven't gone below -10. Did you ever have trouble with your 9860 in the cold? I am hoping its much better as its definitely easier to type on but its frustrating to say the least.

I agree with you and have posted on here about this. I had a 9860 and there is no worse phone keyboard in the cold than that phone. Keyboard won't work properly or dddoubllle letters typed etc.

I can say that the Z10 absolutely rocks in the cold I love it and have had no issues. And I am in a lot of rinks coaching hockey outside etc. And I can tell you for sure the two phones are night and day.

You will love the Z10 cold or hot.

    Cheers

I went to the Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Ontario when it was -16 and could type. However being so cold I was typing using voice dictation

yes the Z10 works great (but not too great) when we had the deep freeze a few weeks ago and the windchills were hitting -20c my Z10 still worked, mind you, i didn't want to use my phone out in the cold, I waited for the bus before I took my phone out to do anything.

yeah... the Q10 looks anything but cheap. Other than that.. the Z10 keyboard is amazing. Haven't been able to test it out in extreme cold but i can say for sure that the 9900 holds up pretty darn good. Well below -30C was able to use my touchscreen. Typing on actual keys though then gets harder...

My hands are freezing in the cold, not my Zed10!

We got a nice -30 here up north a couple of weeks ago

I can vouch for that. My fingers got frostbitten, but the z10 was fine a couple of weekends ago.
