- Hi all,
I'm coming from an iPhone 4S, and prior to that a Galaxy Nexus.
I use the phone a fair bit during the day, but don't play games or watch videos on it.
Here's my usage list, from most to least frequent:
Checking emails
Texting
News (engadget, others)
Web browsing.
Calls (maybe a couple hours, half of that bluetooth in the car)
Maps (checking the traffic, voice nav)
Checking stock prices.
Checking weather.
Taking photos.
Occasional Facebook or Linkedin.
Would a Z10 likely last the day for me? or would the Z30 be a much better choice?
I am used to operating and typing with one hand on the iPhone...not sure how I'll adjust to the 5".
I also like the IPS screens over Amoled typically.
Also, do the phones wake up at the same speed when you slide your finger over it?
(does it take longer to power up the Amoled or IPS?)
It looks like I can get the Z30 for around $600, and the Z10 for $300-$400. (T-Mobile US bands)
Thanks!DYLANHABKIRK likes this.01-14-14 02:26 PMLike 1 - Hi all,

The Z30 battery is much, much better. I charged by battery to full on Sunday, around 1:20pm, and My battery is currently at 53% and predicts 2 more days of usage. I am no light user either.
The AMOLED display is fantastic, and personally, the .8" difference works perfectly. It's really functional, and adds a lot of benefit in typing. I have average hands, and I find you can fly through typing an email.
The Z10 and Z30 seem to show no difference in "wake up" functions. Both running the newest 10.2.1.1925 LEAK.
I would absolutely recommend the Z30 over the Z10. Save yourself the agony of charging your phone daily, and go with the Z30's powerhouse. The speakers are mentionable too. Fantastic sound, which is arguably comparable to the HTC One's BoomSound Audio.Skatophilia likes this.01-14-14 02:37 PMLike 1 - The Z10 will last the, or should last the day with that kind of usage. Mine does. However you should run at least 10.2 OS on the phone for better performance. For optimal performance, load up 10.2.1.1925.
If money is a concern, the Z10 is your choice. If not, the Z30 may be the way to go.

Thanks for the info!
That's amazing you are getting several days of of the device!??
I'm fine charging the phone nightly...I just don't want to look down at 4pm and see 15% remaining :-)
So if it makes it to 10pm with 20% it would be great. (I think that's about what the 4S is getting)
How is the earpiece call quality on each?01-14-14 03:48 PMLike 0 - I had same question as OP, as I am switching from a Curve 9360. have been thinking lots about it and think I might try the Z30, although does anyone have trouble fitting it into their jeans pocket? im not a holster type of guy haha01-14-14 03:49 PMLike 0

Yah, it's not just $$ for this, it's size too...I'm very used to the smaller phones.01-14-14 03:49 PMLike 0 -
My Q10 has always been better than my Z10 in terms of battery life for obvious reasons. Depending on the return policy, try out the Z10 for 4 days and see how you like it. If it doesn't work out well you can go for the Z30. Both devices have their distinct advantages but for covering the same tasks on a daily basis, the Z30 battery wins. The real question is how satisfied will you be
Posted via CB1001-14-14 03:58 PMLike 0 - Z10 definitely lasts from morning until night with moderate use. (email, text, BBM, reddit, cb, etc).
I rarely play games and might watch 15-20 mins of YouTube most days and I have no issues lasting a full day. I am running the latest OS leak .1925 and it is by far the best os to date.
Another plus is that it only takes a couple hours to charge from say 10% to full. I took my z10 off the charger last night at 11pm and I'm currently at 60% battery (3pm).
I would probably buy the z30 over the z10 if I was due for a new phone, but my z10 works perfectly.
Posted via CB1001-14-14 03:59 PMLike 0 - My Z10 can go for 12 hours of mixed usage on a daily basis, although by the time I'm home, I'm usually well into the orange or in the red.

Posted via CB1001-14-14 04:35 PMLike 0 - These are not really questions are they? Any power user would choose a Z10 in my very humble opinion. Why? Because battery life is unlimited. It has a replaceable battery and even the OEM types are less than $20 delivered on ebay. Buy 2 spare batteries and preferably a charging cradle with an extra battery space and never think about it again.

Just ordered both.. Z30 from GSMNation, model STL100-5. ~$600
and from Amazon, Z10 model STL100-3. ~$250
Hopefully those are the right ones for T-Mobile USA !
We'll see if the Z30 is worth 2x+ the price shortly.
Can't wait!01-14-14 04:49 PMLike 0 -
Let me know if you have other sources I could check out... I can always turn that order around before opening.
The Amazon ones were all around $250 and up.01-14-14 04:54 PMLike 0 - Hi all,
