    Hello

While this may seem like a common theme, this STL 100 - 3 had the latest software and worked perfectly fine. No issues with battery or connection to Link. Today is a different story.

    1. The unit will not start. No screen - 2 red blinks from the LED.
    2. Replaced battery with another Z10 = same effect
    3. Tested old battery in another phone - worked fine.
    4. Removed battery and reinstalled several times - no effect.
    5. Hold the power button for 20 seconds - get the two blinks - that's it.
    6. Tried to connect to Link via PC - no connect. Tried just with charger and no effect
    7. Tried with battery and usb - no effect

This phone is barely 2 years old. Does anyone have a solution or a repair option? Notably - this same problem appears in other threads but not really resolved. Does BB have a recall on any particular series?

    Any other procedures?

You need to reload your software, I think that's what the two led means.

Thanks. How would you do that if the phone will not connect to link or even show any signs of life?

You should use an auto loader, but plug into your pc and open link and hold down the power button until it recognizes it, it should connect.

Also leave it plugged in for an hour or so it might come back.

Actually did try that in the first attempts. Battery in and with battery out.

Holding down the power with link connected and tried with link booting. No connect - no recognise- and for 20-30 seconds hold downs. Just two quick red blinks.

Not sure if the autoloaders have any priority to the root of the phone? Link does not. Wiping the phone is not a issue if it would power up, I just want it powered up and running. I will reload as required or backup restore.

Go here and get the loader for the OS version you want, make sure it's the correct one for your phone. D/l it then unzip it and it will make an exe file. Then plug into the pc and double click the exe file, you might have to hold the power button also. Make sure link is closed. It should start up and you will see a green LED meaning it's loading.

Trying it with another loader - different site - same version of the loader.

    1. No Link running
    2. Loader installed and started looking for boot prom.
    3. Stalled at search for boot prom. Held power button down - two blinks of red LED.
    4. The USB detection from the PC does not detect the connection
    5. Going to try your link for the loader.

    1. Tried the loader link you attached - Same response - stalls at the boot prom locator
    2. Tried different USB - No luck
    3. Tried all these against a working Z10 and they connect. This phone will not connect to external devices?
    4. Charge is good - taken battery to known good Z10 85%. Old battery works in another phone.

I just spoke to someone, they said you should make a loader with just the core OS and run it. Hope you know how. You need darcy's tool or sachesi to do it.

Also I think that code of the two led means your using the wrong one for your device

John Chen - If you reading this Prem Watsa and myself are coming to your office... Can't have these devices failing in two years.
Paid the 700$ on pre order March 2013.

The BB Product with QNX is so far advanced - few understand it. However - this hardware best be rated HARDware. If you want to know who builds them best - find out who backs them best! Remember this - the competition is too young to know who said it!

    Solved

John Called - said to HOLD power button down at the same time the UP volume and Down volume for at least 20 Seconds.

From this the phone will hard reset. The corruption in operating system will resolve within the OS reboot sequence.

Note: If it does not work with the Battery Alone. Plug into the PC or your BB charge while attempting the hard reset.

*** For all those fighting with the TWO RED LED Blinks - This works.
