So upon getting my Z10 on Feb 5, i popped my 16GB Kingston MicroSD card in, only to find that it wouldn't read, i've been busy of late and just ignored that and used a 2GB card i had lying around, but now that i've got some free time i'd like to ask: does anyone have some suggestions? i've tried both exFAT and FAT32 formatting, the card works in both PCs, and my 9700 that i was swapping from.

Have you tried to go into settings/storage and format the card?

I have a Sandisk 16GB class 10 card in mine, formatted FAT32, and then I put it in the Z10 and formatted it there too...works great.

You need to format it in settings on the phone. Whatever formatting you've done with windows prior has no effect.

i can't format it in settings on the phone, the phone won't even give "media card inserted" and it doesn't show in the storage settings.

I believe the phone would format it as ntfs. Try to format it in your pc first?

Tried NTFS, still no results. also tried ext2/3/4 from my linux PC.

Note: I tried a friends 16GB Sandisk MicroSD today, and it read that perfectly. It seems like a card error but thats odd considering it works in my 9700 and pcs.

NTFS won't work. The Z10 will read a FAT32 formatted card, whether that was formatted in your PC or not. If you try that and the card doesn't work, return it, it's probability defective.

Unfortunately i've had the card for well over a year now, so the hope of that is gone. It's currently in my device FAT32 formatted, going to see if the friend with the 16GB Sandisk will trade, providing the Kingston works in his device. Unusual that it works in all the devices i've tried it in except the one i'm currently using.

Formatted a 64 gb one for my wife and happily using it. Hard to believe it won't format a 16. Take it to your neighbourhood computer store or carrier and see what light they can shed on your issue.

I believe that if it were to read that the card were inserted it would format perfectly, but it won't read that it has a SD in it whatsoever. i'll see if my friend will trade, if not then i'll head to the closest PC store.

Some times a card just wont jive with a device as ive learned with my nikon D5100 and you gota bite the bullet and get a different card - I would always suggest a CLASS 10 card if your buying new .

You could try deleting the partition on the card using the pc, then try formatting it with the Z10. It could be that it needs to be blank. Or try formatting it with another BB.

Tried formatting in a 9700 and 9360, the 9360 owner will trade her card for mine, my card works in her phone and hers in mine.
