I've been a z10 user ever since it was released in 2013. My carrier contract has been up since March, but I can't decipher which phone I should upgrade to. And to be honest, I don't have an interest in any of the newer phones. However, the battery life on the z10 has become dreadful, and the virtual keyboard and word prediction feature has lost its accuracy.

Would it be a wise choice to purchase a new battery in hopes of solving my current battery issue, being that the phone is over two years old? Or am I just dumping money into an out of date phone?

Also, is there anything, such as a calibration test, that can fix the inaccuracies of my keyboard/word prediction?

All in all, what can I do for my phone to perform as if it were new?

Umm might as well get a new phone.. I was also a z10 user since release but my camera stopped working.. so I moved on. It's much better to get a newer phone with better specs than to use the z10

If the phone is fully functional and does what you need then I would suggest just getting a battery (or two). You can buy original z10 batteries very cheaply, so it won't cost much. The only caveat is that any original battery you buy will have been manufactured in 2012/13 and so will have lost capacity over that long time period. But even if you get 6-12 months out of it you'll be in a better position to see what newer alternatives there are.
Probably not good for BlackBerry's bottom line, but I dislike waste.

As for the word prediction - you could perhaps try clearing learned words in system settings, language and input, prediction and correction, clear learnt words. Can't say if it will make any difference though.
Alternatively security wipe or OS reload as Usman suggested.

Hmm. And I thought it was just my imagination. Why are they spending so much time fixing stuff that isn't broken.

Yes, the once great Z10 keyboard is now terrible.

Clearing the learned words should help.

Look around for a good price on a Z30. New or used you will be very happy. I still have my Z10 btw.

The OP read my mind about the battery thing. So I have had my Z10 basically since launch and I am wondering would it be advantageous to get a new battery then??? I want the same one that came with the Z10 as I don't want to have a different shaped Z10. I have noticed lately the battery level is definitely dropping faster lately with a small amount of use.

On YOUR phone. I've had my Z10 since release in 2013 and it works just as good now as it did the day I bought it. With battery replacement it could last forever!

I'm with the OP. Something happened with the latest OS upgrade. The word prediction was amazing, and now it's just good. For example it can't seem to predict my name. I only type it 20 times a day but it never suggests it. Prior to OS upgrade it would predict my name as soon as i touched M .
Oh and how about capital I. Notice the lower case I in my previous sentence? It used to automatically capitalize the letter I if you spaced after it, now it leaves you hanging with a lower case.
    Hmmm.
    Maybe Priv?

Reinstall the OS again via Autoloader then security wipe your phone. This makes sure you have a clean copy of the OS. It should correct any typing problems you have.

OP if you have the cash to spare I suggest buying an unlocked z30. It's basically a z10 that had a battery issues solved, plus a bigger screen to boot!

You can clear everything that's been learned and start from scratch. As for the battery life, the Z10 was never stellar. I've found that the latest version of the OS has helped my Z10's battery performance. 10.3.2.2474. Have you considered buying additional phone chargers to compensate? It will obviously depend on the user, but I've found that my Z10 will get me through the day without recharging. I usually have 20% to 35% left when I get home in the evening.

Mine Z10/ST100-2 is 2years old and no problems of battery and typing issues. The capacity 1850mA battery is too little to operation for a whole day and I have spare bundle battery. The typing issues may OS caused, Reload OS by autoloader.
