When I open up phone app and open contacts my z10 has now started to have a 4-5sec lag.
I didn't realise at the time but this was one if my main frustrations with old nexus s.
Make it stop. Please!

Must have a 3rd party apps with bad code
I have that too. I don't have many 3rd party apps installed. It doesn?t bother me though. I have a lot of contacts from a variety of places so it must take some time to refresh them.

battery pull?
Do a 20 second battery pull.
Oh no... Here we go :crying:
So far so good for me though. No lag! :D
The phone app isn't the best app as is neither the settings app.

hey atleast we dont have to go make a cup of coffee while we wait anymore lol
OP do you have any 3rd party apps that utilizes contacts? If so uninstall and reinstall:)
I can never tell if one is being sarcastic when this is said.
Oh no, all the bad memories from os 5/6 starts recurring... the battery pull... the hourglass... :(

I think the phone lag is normal for this device.
There is another thread about this. So especially if you mean the contacts while in the phone, the following will probably help. Clear your call history. Mine started to lag pretty bad. I cleared my call history and it started working like brand new. It was even affecting the dial pad. That works great now too.

Zing!!!
The Phone app as they say was not written on cascade but on Adobe air that's why it is slow when you have many contacts try to hide contacts that you don't use like twitter contacts perhaps?

Phone/Settings/Contacts are bumpier compared to the core OS. From what I read, it was made with Adobe AIR (don't quote me on this one) and it is sluggish (even for me). On top, if your Phone application has many Contact links from external sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) and loading them would slow it down a bit. If you Internet/WiFi is not optimum, that would just add to it.
One word...restart.
All phones from time to go need a refresh/restart. I find this usually fixes most problems related to lag.

That's what I would also try - a reboot as a first step.
For me calls and contacts are quick - at least I cannot see anything amiss.

Happened to me too, they should make the phone app way faster. Anyways I fixed this by clearing the call log, just clear it and it'll be faster
I can't see any lag yet.
No sideloaded apps for me though, I think that matters.
This shouldn't even happen in the first place.
BBRY needs to push out an update and fix the core apps. I for one do NOT want to have to clear my call history, especially in times when someone calls me and I don't have their number saved so I don't know who it is and I end up missing the call because I'm busy (which happens to me A LOT, and when I call them back THEY'RE busy and I still don't find out who it was that called); or I need to know what time I called someone or when someone called me.
no lag, i have instagram, flipboard, pulse, verge, and imo sideloaded. i hope my phone doesn't start lagging but i don't see that happening lol my z10 is a champ!
I'm not 100% sure about the latest OS, but in the more recent Dev Alpha OSes the phone app was NOT written in air. It is a native app, mostly written in QML based on the contents of the .bar file. I can't imagine BlackBerry would downgrade to air for the final version.
As a previous iPhone user, did you know that iPhones need to be restarted every now and again?
My friend's iPhone 4 wouldn't play music while another app was in the foreground (even if everything else was off)
I said it before and I'll say it again, as long as phones keep using RAM, there will be a need for Hard Resets.
