I'm gonna buy a Z10 right now from shop BlackBerry, the white version for my dad, I just need to know real quick if that version works with T-Mobile's LTE network

It's the STL100-3, so yes he would get LTE on TMO.

And based on earlier reports, it's even the RFK121LW variant of the STL100-3, which is the best one for T-Mobile too. (Has 1700Mhz for UMTS, the RFF91LW that AT&T sells does not)

I could never verify the claims from some people that if it is unlocked even the RFF91LW gains the 1700Mhz UMTS band.

When I went there yesterday to test, it automatically reduced the price to $199 in the cart, without me entering any promo code.

Lol. I gave up on trying to prove/disprove the distinction between the two sub-variants. Now I throw in a couple of "unofficiallys" but deep down I think I've convinced even myself the two variants are the same. Maybe one of these days I'll get motivated enough to look through the FCC filings.

It actually works for white phones.
    I just ordered one.

If you already used the code try it in another browser.

Download an app called "Signal" (icon is blue) and run it on your unlocked 91LW. I bet it looks the same as a 121LW.

So, was OS comes with this phone and can you get wifi-calling to work on it?

    Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

Makes me wonder...does Signal actually detect the bands in the phone, or does it somehow just get your model# and display pre-programmed band information accordingly? Because there are a lot of people here who swear they're in TMO UMTS 1700 markets when they say they're getting 3G/HSPA+

That's no surprise if it's a locked device.

However the contention was that if the device were unlocked, it would gain the 1700Mhz band just like the RFK121LW model.

The next question would be what OS you're using. If it's an OS installed or pushed by AT&T then the radio firmware won't have 1700 MHz. AT&T doesn't use or roam on 1700 so there's no reason why you'd need it anyway.

If you're using a T-mo SIM but still using an AT&T issued OS then you need a generic build or one pushed by T-mo. The screenshot I posted above is a 91LW unlocked.

As of today I have both an unlocked 91LW and 121LW and both show 1700 UMTS while on T-mo per the Signal app. The 91LW is running 10.1.0.4200 and the 121LW is running 10.1.0.4184 as shipped from BlackBerry.

At this point I have no doubt that this is tied to the radio file in the -3 models.

So ralfyguy says he has an unlocked RFF91LW device on AT&T with an AT&T SIM, running a recent OS release, and doesn't show 1700Mhz UMTS available.

This seems to conflict with what modifier is claiming. Or am I missing something?

He's running a Rogers official OS, which I suspect does not "unlock" the UMTS 1700 band as modifier described.

OK here is what it shows with the filter off:

Does turning off "filter active bands" mean that the "inactive" ones showing are part of the devices capabilities?

Not inactive ones per se (except for, I guess, UMTS 1700 in your case,) but all the bands that are present across all different Z10s. So the "filter" basically hides the bands that are not present in your Z10.
