This morning my Z10 (T-Mobile, STL-100-3, OS 10.2.1.375) started to register multiple touches and gestures apparently at random (and sometime when I wasn't touching the device at all).

For example, when I swiped up to enter the password, I was only able to type in the first few characters before seemingly at random many other keys started popping up and then the screen froze. I restarted the device but the issue still persists and now most of the time I can't even swipe up the phone (from the unlock screen) as it doesn't register the gesture.

I've restarted multiple times, and have even been able to load a fresh OS onto the device but the problem still persists.
Interesting, the phone functioned perfectly last night.

Has anyone come across this situation before?
Also, given I've on T-Mobile, how would I go about replacing the device (with another Z10) asap -I think they no longer sell the device in the stores right?

    Thanks for your help.
    Long live BB.

Do you by any chance have the phone plugged in to the charger? I've had the random letters happen on my Z10 when using it while it was charging, but that's the only time it would happen.

Unfortunately it happens on and off the charger.
I don't get the rapid onset of the problem ostensibly without cause.
At first I thought it must be software related but a fresh OS should have cleared any issues.
As for it being a hardware problem, also strange as I didn't drop the phone and as far as I'm concerned, nothing happened to it overnight.
In any case, thanks for your help.

Is it near any other electrical or electronic equipment. Plasma tv, microwave, similar

Solid question, there must be some engineering in you.
Nothing that hasn't been around before. Plus, I've taken my phone to work, ridden in the subway, and on... same issues.

Nah, BS Biology - you know natural science versus that physics type stuff!

But I do recall seeing a video of a Playbook dancing in the vicinity of one of those Lightning Globes. And folks have reported similar on a socket where lots of other things were plugged in and also in the vicinity of a plasma tv.

As of Tuesday morning I ordered another Z10 from shop.blackberry but I will keep this one on hand for the foreseeable future in hopes of getting it to work again. I'll report progress, if any.

I don't have any screen protectors or cases unfortunately, and I've cleaned the screen as best I can and even offered to name my first-born ZedTen, but nothing.
I think perhaps the culmination of all the minor falls and scratches finally just pushed it over the edge.

Maybe give the phone a secure wipe and see if the problem persists on the base OS.

My wife has just got this problem on her 2 months old Xperia Z1. It's time for a new phone or new screen.

Thanks for all your help but I have had to ultimately purchase a new Z10.

I'm selling the malfunctioning one on eBay as "non-working" to help defray the cost.

    Best, and long live BB.

Don't smear the grease around. Use a good cleaner such as

    It surprised me.

happened to my Z10 too! really annoying because I couldn't wake up the phone / swipe from bottom and that's as essential as the iphone button.

The problems usually go away after I unplug the phone but sometimes persist. It's been less than 2 years... but maybe I'll get a Passport

I had experience before, wipe and etc, but always had the problem. But this only my experience, I change my provider. Than suddenly that problem disappeared.
